Overview
Realistic Horse Upgrade lets you transform ordinary Minecraft horses into powerful, durable "Thoroughbred" horses inspired by realistic horse simulation games. Using a single craftable item, you can permanently boost any horse's health, speed, jumping ability, and survivability without replacing the horse itself — your horse keeps its taming status, saddle, armor, and appearance.
What It Adds
- Realistic Horse Upgrade Kit — a craftable tool used to upgrade horses.
- A permanent Thoroughbred transformation for horses, applied through special buffs.
- Renamed horses that receive the upgrade are labeled "Realistic Thoroughbred."
- On-screen messages that guide you on how to use the kit correctly.
How To Use
- Hold the Realistic Horse Upgrade Kit in your hand.
- Right-click (interact) on any horse to attempt the upgrade.
- If the horse hasn't been upgraded yet, it will transform into a Thoroughbred, gain a name tag, and receive a burst of particles and sound.
- If you target a horse that has already been upgraded, you'll be told it's already trained.
- If you try to use the kit on any creature other than a horse, you'll be told the kit only works on horses.
- Using the kit without targeting anything (e.g., swinging in the air) will show a helpful reminder to use it on a horse.
Crafting And Obtaining
Craft the Realistic Horse Upgrade Kit at a crafting table using the recipe below:
The kit requires leather, string, sugar, wheat, and a golden apple — reflecting practical horse-care items like tack, rope, and treats.
Abilities And Mechanics
Once a horse is upgraded, it permanently gains a robust set of enhancements that make it far tougher and more capable than a normal horse:
- Boosted Health — significantly more health than a standard horse.
- Increased Speed — moves faster while ridden.
- Enhanced Jumping — clears higher obstacles and gaps with ease.
- Damage Resistance — takes less damage from most sources.
- Regeneration — slowly heals over time.
- Fire Resistance — immune to fire and lava damage.
These enhancements are refreshed automatically in the background, so your Thoroughbred stays powerful even after you travel away, log out, or reload the world. The horse retains all of its normal behavior — it can still be tamed, bred, saddled, armored, and ridden like any other horse, just tougher and more athletic.
Progression And Strategy
- Upgrade your best-bred or favorite horses first, since the transformation is permanent and consumes the kit.
- Because upgraded horses resist fire and take reduced damage, they're ideal companions for Nether travel or dangerous exploration.
- Their improved jump and speed make them excellent for crossing rough terrain, ravines, and long-distance travel.
- Craft multiple kits if you plan on upgrading an entire stable of horses.
