Description
Rainbow Jelly is a consumable cosmetic dye crafted from Rainbow Glass — use it on a mob (use/right‑click) to turn that creature into a bright, colorful rainbow variant without changing its behavior. The addon also adds a new villager-style mob called the Rainbow Hunter (find one naturally or use its spawn egg) who trades for Rainbow Jelly, offering basic trades for emeralds and higher-tier trades that require emeralds plus slime. Applying Rainbow Jelly is purely cosmetic and does not affect mob AI, drops, or abilities.
Mod Wiki
Rainbow Jelly
Quickstart
- Gather glass and a slime ball, then craft Rainbow Jelly at a crafting table:
- Hold the Rainbow Jelly and use it on any mob (tap on Bedrock) to instantly coat that creature in a vivid rainbow color.
- Watch for particle effects and a chat message confirming which color was applied — the transformation is instant and purely visual.
Overview
Rainbow Jelly is a cosmetic dye item that repaints mobs in bright rainbow hues. It does not alter mob AI, loot drops, or combat stats — it only changes how the creature looks. The addon also introduces the Rainbow Hunter, a villager-style mob who trades Rainbow Jelly to players who prefer to buy rather than craft.
What It Adds
| Content | Description |
|---|
| Rainbow Jelly | Consumable cosmetic item; applies a random rainbow color to any mob |
| Rainbow Hunter | New villager-style mob that spawns naturally and offers trades for Rainbow Jelly |
| Rainbow Hunter Spawn Egg | Lets you summon a Rainbow Hunter anywhere |
How To Use
Dyeing a Mob
- Hold Rainbow Jelly in your main hand and tap/use on a mob. One jelly is consumed and the mob is tagged with a random rainbow color (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, or violet).
- Balloon and heart particles burst around the mob, and your chat shows which color was assigned.
- You can re-apply Rainbow Jelly to the same mob to reroll its color.
- Rainbow Jelly cannot be used on other players.
Eating Rainbow Jelly
- If you use Rainbow Jelly with no mob targeted (use in the air), your character eats it. This grants you brief Regeneration and Speed effects and plays the rainbow taste message in chat. One jelly is consumed.
Stacking
Rainbow Jelly stacks up to 16 per slot and has a rare-quality enchant glint, making it easy to spot in your inventory.
Crafting And Obtaining
Craft It
Eight glass surrounding one slime ball at a crafting table yields one Rainbow Jelly.
Buy It from a Rainbow Hunter
Find or spawn a Rainbow Hunter and interact with them to open their trade menu. They offer:
- Basic trades — Rainbow Jelly for emeralds.
- Higher-tier trades — Rainbow Jelly for emeralds plus slime.
Trades resupply over time, just like standard villager trades.

Progression And Strategy
- Early game: Craft Rainbow Jelly as soon as you have glass and a slime ball — no special materials required.
- Finding Rainbow Hunters: They spawn naturally in village-adjacent biomes on grass, sand, snow, or podzol during daylight. You can also use the Rainbow Hunter Spawn Egg to place one wherever you like.
- Upgrading trades: Level up your Rainbow Hunter through repeated trading to unlock the higher-tier deals that cost slime alongside emeralds — useful if you want a steady supply without farming slime yourself.
- Cosmetic builds: Use Rainbow Jelly on livestock, pets, or ambient mobs to create colorful displays in your base without any gameplay downside.
