Pow Block

Quickstart

1. Craft a Pow Block using the recipe below and place it anywhere in the world.
2. Either right-click the block or simply walk on top of it to trigger a massive shockwave.
3. Every nearby enemy and player within 8 blocks is damaged and launched into the air. Most blocks within 4 blocks of the Pow Block are also smashed.
4. The block destroys itself on activation. A 10-second cooldown prevents you from triggering another one right away.

Overview

The Pow Block brings the iconic crowd-control item from classic platformer games into Minecraft. It is a single-use explosive block that combines shockwave damage, knockback, and block destruction in one satisfying hit. It is found in the Combat creative tab and stacks up to 64.

How To Use

1. Craft the Pow Block (see recipe above).
2. Place it on any surface in the world like a normal block.
3. Activate it in one of two ways:
   • Right-click (use/interact) the placed block.
   • Step on top of it.
4. On activation:
   • A loud POW sound and explosion particles play at the block's location.
   • All living entities (mobs and other players) within 8 blocks are damaged and knocked back. Damage scales with proximity — closer targets take more damage.
   • Most blocks within a 4-block radius are broken.
   • The activating player is nudged upward slightly.
   • The Pow Block itself is consumed.
5. A 10-second cooldown is applied to the activating player. Attempting to trigger another Pow Block during the cooldown does nothing.

Tip: The Pow Block can be mined with a pickaxe and retrieved before activation if you place it somewhere you don't want it.

Crafting And Obtaining

The Pow Block is craftable at any crafting table as soon as you join a world — the recipe is automatically unlocked.

Ingredients: Gunpowder, Slime Balls, and TNT arranged in a specific pattern (see recipe above). It can also be found in the Combat tab in Creative mode.

Progression And Strategy

• Mob farming: Place a Pow Block in a mob farm corridor and step on it to clear a packed crowd in one activation.
• PvP: Set a trap by placing a Pow Block in a choke point. Anyone who walks over it triggers the shockwave — including yourself, so place carefully.
• Stock up: Because each block is single-use and has a cooldown, carry several Pow Blocks so you can place a new one the moment the cooldown expires.
• Terrain clearing: The 4-block destruction radius can clear dirt, gravel, sand, and other soft blocks quickly — handy for rapid excavation in a pinch.
• Stay back: The shockwave does not damage the activating player directly, but the block destruction and knockback can still cause environmental hazards. Activate from the side rather than standing directly on top if there is a drop nearby.
