Description
A flying pig-warden hybrid that hunts everything in sight.
Mod Wiki
Pig Warden
Quickstart
- Give yourself a Pig Warden Spawn Egg (
/give @s spawn_egg and select the Pig Warden variant, or find one in a creative inventory search for "Pig Warden").
- Use the egg on the ground to spawn the Pig Warden, or let it spawn naturally in dark overworld and nether skies.
- Watch out — it flies straight at anything nearby and hits extremely hard. Keep your distance until you're ready to fight.
- Defeat it for porkchops and rare loot like sculk catalysts, echo shards, sculk shriekers, and even phantom membranes.
Overview
The Pig Warden is a dangerous flying hybrid mob that fuses the alertness of a Warden with the shape of a pig. It drifts through the skies hunting down anything alive it can sense, using vibration and sound detection much like its Warden ancestry, but with the ability to fly and chase targets through open air.
What It Adds
- Pig Warden — an airborne hostile mob that attacks players and other mobs on sight.
- Pig Warden Spawn Egg — used to summon the Pig Warden directly.
- Loot drops tied to defeating it, including food and rare sculk-related materials.
How To Use
- Spawning it yourself: Use the Pig Warden Spawn Egg on a block or in the air to summon one instantly.
- Finding it in the wild: Pig Wardens spawn naturally at night or in dark areas (light level 7 or lower) high above the ground (60+ blocks up) in the Overworld and the Nether. They spawn alone rather than in groups.
- Interacting: Approaching it triggers its senses — it listens for vibrations and nearby movement, growing angrier the more disturbances it detects nearby.
- Fighting it: Keep moving and be ready for a serious brawl. It has a massive health pool and deals heavy damage per hit, and it can fly, dig into the ground, roar, and unleash a sonic boom attack, similar to its Warden inspiration.
Abilities And Mechanics
- Flight: Unlike a normal Warden, this hybrid can fly and path freely through the air, over water, and even over lava, letting it chase down flying or elevated targets.
- Vibration and anger sensing: It builds "anger" toward nearby creatures based on sounds and movement. Once angry enough, it locks onto and aggressively pursues that target.
- Universal hostility: It targets nearly everything living — players and other mobs alike — so it isn't safe to keep other creatures nearby.
- Digging and emerging: It can dig into the ground and re-emerge, mirroring Warden-like burrowing behavior.
- Roar and sonic boom: It can roar to intimidate and unleash a devastating ranged sonic boom attack against distant targets.
- Extremely tough and strong: It has very high health and a powerful attack, making it a high-risk, high-reward target for players seeking rare drops.
- Knockback resistant: It cannot be pushed back by attacks, though it can still be pushed by pistons or other entities.
Crafting And Obtaining
There are no crafting recipes for this mod — the Pig Warden is obtained only through its spawn egg or by encountering one that has spawned naturally.
Progression And Strategy
- Approach a Pig Warden only when well-equipped; its 30-damage attack and huge health pool make it a serious late-game threat.
- Defeating it rewards you with porkchops (extra if it dies while on fire, since they'll already be cooked) plus a chance at valuable sculk-themed loot — sculk catalysts, echo shards, and sculk shriekers — useful for expanding Deep Dark-style builds or Warden-related setups.
- There's also a small chance of finding phantom membrane, and a very rare chance of finding a music disc fragment, making repeated encounters worthwhile for collectors.
- Because it hunts everything nearby, consider luring it away from valuable animals or allies before engaging, or use terrain and cover to avoid its sonic boom while you close the distance.
