Mod Wiki
Paper Guard
Quickstart
- Gather paper (made from sugar cane).
- Craft the four Paper Guard armor pieces using the recipes below.
- Equip all four pieces at once — helmet, chestplate, leggings, and boots.
- Jump off something tall and enjoy a slow, gentle drift instead of a hard landing.
Overview
Paper Guard is a lightweight armor set crafted entirely from paper. Its pieces offer only token physical protection, but wearing the complete set grants a powerful defensive perk: permanent Slow Falling III, letting you fall from any height without taking damage or plummeting quickly.
What It Adds
- Paper Guard Helmet – head armor, glowing with an enchantment-like shimmer.
- Paper Guard Chestplate – chest armor, offering a light protective layer.
- Paper Guard Leggings – leg armor, described as reinforced folded paper.
- Paper Guard Boots – foot armor for soft, quiet steps.
All four pieces belong to the same armor set and can be found in the Combat items tab of the Creative inventory. Each piece carries its own flavor tooltip describing its role in the set.
Crafting And Obtaining
Each armor piece is crafted using only paper in a standard crafting table, similar to how vanilla armor is shaped:
- Helmet:
- Chestplate:
- Leggings:
- Boots:
The crafting recipes are automatically known to players — you don't need to discover them first, they unlock as soon as you join the world.
Abilities And Mechanics
- Full Set Bonus – Slow Falling III: As long as you are wearing the Helmet, Chestplate, Leggings, and Boots simultaneously, you continuously receive Slow Falling at its strongest level. This drastically slows your descent and completely negates fall damage while active.
- The bonus is checked continuously while you wear the full set — if you remove any single piece, the effect will stop refreshing and soon wear off.
- The armor provides very light physical protection on its own (comparable to leather armor in some slots), so it should be thought of as a fall-safety tool rather than combat gear.
- Each piece has an enchantment glint by default, though this is cosmetic and doesn't indicate an actual enchantment.
- Paper is used as the repair material for these armor pieces, so keep spare paper on hand to fix durability with an anvil or crafting grid combination.
Progression And Strategy
Paper Guard is best used as a utility set for exploration and building rather than fighting — use it when working on tall towers, cliffside builds, or when you want to explore vertical terrain (ravines, mountains, the End) without fear of fall damage. Since all four pieces are needed for the Slow Falling bonus, always equip the complete set before taking any risky leaps. Keep the durability in mind since the armor is fragile (low durability multiplier), and stock extra paper for quick repairs so your fall protection doesn't run out mid-adventure.
