Description:
Ore Sight is a purely visual client-side mod that strips away the visual clutter of underground filler blocks, revealing only the faces of ore blocks. No blocks are actually removed or altered — the world remains exactly as it is on the server. The effect is purely cosmetic and toggles instantly with a single key press.
Ore Sight adds one thing: a toggleable X-ray-style ore-highlighting mode. When active:
When Ore Sight is enabled, the following blocks become visually invisible:
| Category | Blocks |
|---|---|
| Stone variants | Stone, Granite, Diorite, Andesite, Deepslate, Tuff, Calcite |
| Nether | Netherrack, Basalt, Smooth Basalt, Blackstone |
| Other | Dripstone Block, End Stone, Dirt, Coarse Dirt, Rooted Dirt, Gravel, Sand, Sandstone, Red Sand, Red Sandstone, Clay |
All vanilla ores and their variants are rendered at full brightness:
| Overworld Ores | Deepslate Variants | Nether / Special |
|---|---|---|
| Coal Ore | Deepslate Coal Ore | Nether Quartz Ore |
| Copper Ore | Deepslate Copper Ore | Nether Gold Ore |
| Iron Ore | Deepslate Iron Ore | Ancient Debris |
| Gold Ore | Deepslate Gold Ore | |
| Redstone Ore | Deepslate Redstone Ore | |
| Emerald Ore | Deepslate Emerald Ore | |
| Lapis Ore | Deepslate Lapis Ore | |
| Diamond Ore | Deepslate Diamond Ore |
Press O (bound under the Ore Sight category in Minecraft's Controls settings) to switch the mode on or off. When you toggle, the world renderer refreshes immediately — no need to reload chunks or rejoin the world. An on-screen message tells you the current state:
You can rebind the toggle key in Options → Controls → Ore Sight → Toggle Ore Sight.
