Nightstalker's Fang

Quickstart

1. Craft the Nightstalker's Fang using the recipe below and place it in your main hand.
2. Hold it and approach enemies — mobs more than 6 blocks away will lose track of you automatically.
3. Sneak behind an enemy and strike them with a normal attack for a devastating backstab.
4. Shift+Right-click to cycle between the three active abilities (the selected mode is shown in chat).
5. Right-click to activate the current ability.

Overview

The Nightstalker's Fang is an obsidian dagger built for stealth assassins. It combines high base damage and fast swing speed with a passive stealth aura, a powerful backstab mechanic, and three distinct active abilities that reward aggressive, mobile playstyles. Managing ability cooldowns and positioning is the core of using the Fang effectively.

Abilities And Mechanics

Passive: Stealth Aura

While the Fang is held (main hand or off-hand), any mob more than 6 blocks away loses track of you. This does not make you invisible, but effectively suppresses mob aggression at range, giving you control over when an engagement begins.

Passive: Backstab

Striking an enemy from behind with a normal melee attack deals bonus damage on top of your standard hit, effectively doubling your damage output. Positioning behind your target before attacking is the highest single-hit damage option available.

Active Abilities

Cycle through the three modes with Shift+Right-click. The active mode is announced in chat each time you switch. Use Right-click to fire the selected ability.

Each ability has its own independent cooldown — you can switch away and use another ability while the first is still recovering.

Progression And Strategy

• Open with Smoke Screen to blind clustered enemies and buy space before a fight.
• Viper Lunge is your gap-closer and crowd-control tool; its short cooldown makes it a reliable repositioning option every engagement.
• Shadow Strike is the finisher — save it for dangerous targets you need to eliminate instantly. Killing with it resets Viper Lunge, letting you chain a teleport-kill into an immediate lunge escape or follow-up.
• The backstab passive rewards circling enemies during melee. Combine it with Shadow Strike (which places you directly behind the target) for a guaranteed backstab proc the moment you reappear.
• Because cooldowns are independent, a full rotation might look like: Smoke Screen → Viper Lunge into pack → backstab a key target → Shadow Strike to finish → Viper Lunge reset for escape.
