Nightmare Steel

Quickstart

1. Open a crafting table and craft Nightmare Steel using one coal, one iron ingot, and one stick:

1. Equip Nightmare Steel in your hotbar.
2. Use the attack control to strike an entity.
3. After a successful hit, the target is briefly affected by:
   • Darkness I for 1.5 seconds
   • Slowness I for 2 seconds
   • Weakness I for 2 seconds

In Creative mode, Nightmare Steel is available in the Equipment category. You can also obtain it with:

/give @s com_nightmare_steel_jleagysa:my_sword

Overview

Nightmare Steel is a close-range sword designed around unsettling, tactical combat. Its attacks deal strong damage and temporarily make struck entities harder to see, slower, and weaker.

What It Adds

Nightmare Steel can receive sword enchantments and is held as a sword in the player’s hand.

How To Use

Crafting

Craft Nightmare Steel at a crafting table with:

• 1 coal
• 1 iron ingot
• 1 stick

The recipe places the coal above the iron ingot, with the stick at the bottom.

Combat

Equip the sword and attack an entity at close range. Each successful hit applies all three of its combat effects:

• Darkness I: briefly obscures the target’s vision.
• Slowness I: reduces the target’s movement speed.
• Weakness I: reduces the target’s melee combat effectiveness.

Follow up quickly while the target is slowed and weakened, especially when fighting dangerous mobs or groups.

Nightmare Steel is crafted as a single item at a crafting table:

It can also be taken from the Creative inventory’s Equipment category or obtained with the item command:

Abilities And Mechanics

• Melee weapon: Nightmare Steel must be used at close range.
• Attack damage: Each hit deals 8 damage before armor and other modifiers.
• Horror effects: Successful hits briefly apply Darkness, Slowness, and Weakness to the struck entity.
• Durability: The sword has 666 durability and wears down through use.
• Repairing: Iron ingots can repair Nightmare Steel, restoring up to 166 durability per ingot.
• Enchanting: Its sword enchantment compatibility allows it to benefit from sword enchantments.

Progression And Strategy

Craft Nightmare Steel as soon as you have access to coal, iron, and a stick. Its high durability makes it useful for extended combat, while its hit effects help control threatening enemies.

Use the first strike to create an opening, then keep attacking while the target is slowed and weakened. Against multiple enemies, focus on one target at a time so the effects help you finish it before switching targets. Keep iron ingots available for repairs during long expeditions.
