Quickstart

Craft a Wooden Hammer with planks and sticks: . Hold it in your main hand and mine a block with it. In survival, the hammer also breaks eligible blocks in a 3×3 face around the block you targeted.

Crouch while mining to break only the targeted block. Try mining a wall, then crouch and mine again to compare.

Overview

The mod adds seven pickaxe-style hammers: wooden, stone, copper, iron, golden, diamond, and netherite. Their special feature is mining a 3×3 area at once.

How To Use

• Mine normally: A hammer breaks the targeted block and, if eligible, up to eight more blocks in a 3×3 face around it.
• Choose the face: The 3×3 face is perpendicular to the direction you are looking most strongly.
• Mine one block: Crouch while breaking a block to suppress the extra mining.
• Know the limits: Extra blocks must be pickaxe-mineable, must not have a block entity, and must be breakable with the hammer for drops when the block requires a suitable tool. The 3×3 effect does not activate in Creative mode.

Crafting And Obtaining

The shaped hammer recipes use three matching materials across the top row and two sticks down the center column. Wooden Hammers use planks; Stone Hammers use cobblestone.

The Netherite Hammer is made in a smithing table with a Netherite Upgrade smithing template, a Diamond Hammer, and a Netherite Ingot.

Abilities And Mechanics

The hammer first breaks the block you target; the area effect then checks the surrounding blocks in the selected face. Each extra block it successfully breaks also uses hammer durability. Use crouch mining when you want to avoid disturbing nearby blocks.

Progression And Strategy

Start with a Wooden or Stone Hammer, then craft other materials as you obtain them. Choose a hammer suitable for the blocks you plan to mine, especially where a block requires a tool of the right material for drops. For controlled mining around block entities or mixed materials, crouch to break one block at a time.
