Ironwood Copper Axe

Quickstart

1. Craft the axe using the recipe below (or simply check your recipe book — it's unlocked automatically for every player).
2. Equip it in your main hand.
3. Punch a tree. Any log block will melt away almost instantly.
4. Swing it at a mob and watch it hit far harder than any vanilla weapon.
5. Keep it in your hand (or offhand) and check your inventory every couple of minutes — it periodically rewards you with raw iron just for holding it.
6. Be ready to move slowly — this axe cripples your movement speed while you carry it.

Overview

The Ironwood Copper Axe is a single, absurdly powerful tool/weapon item. It is designed as a novelty "cheat axe" — it chops entire trees almost instantly, deals enormous melee damage, and periodically hands out free raw iron. The tradeoff is a severe, constant Slowness effect while it's equipped.

What It Adds

• Ironwood Copper Axe — a craftable axe item that:
  • Chops any log-type block almost instantly.
  • Deals extreme melee damage, far beyond any vanilla weapon.
  • Applies heavy Slowness to whoever is holding it (main hand or offhand).
  • Periodically grants a piece of raw iron to its holder just for keeping it on hand.
  • Counts as a normal axe for enchanting and behaves like other axes for interactions.

Crafting And Obtaining

Craft the axe with copper ingots, a dark oak log, and raw iron:

The recipe is also automatically unlocked in your recipe book as soon as you join the world, so you don't need to discover it manually.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Instant tree felling: When mining log blocks, the axe cuts through them at a vastly accelerated speed compared to any normal tool — trees come down almost instantly. Mining speed on non-log blocks is normal for an axe.
• Massive attack power: The axe hits with an enormous amount of bonus damage on top of its base attack, making it capable of one-shotting almost anything.
• Slow attack speed: Despite its power, the axe swings very slowly compared to other weapons.
• Constant Slowness: While the axe is in your main hand or offhand, you are continuously affected by a strong Slowness effect (equivalent to Slowness VII), making walking and running much harder while you carry it.
• Passive raw iron income: While holding the axe, you periodically receive a raw iron drop directly into your inventory (or dropped at your feet if your inventory is full). This happens automatically over time, roughly every couple of minutes, as long as you keep the axe in hand.
• Durability: The axe has a large amount of durability, so it can be used for a very long time before it needs repairing.

Progression And Strategy

• Only carry the axe when you intend to use its chopping or combat power — the Slowness penalty makes general exploration and traveling much slower.
• Because it fells entire trees essentially instantly, it's extremely efficient for large-scale wood gathering, provided you can tolerate moving slowly while doing it.
• Its overwhelming attack damage makes it a trivializing weapon in combat, but its slow swing speed means timing your hits still matters.
• Holding the axe passively over time nets you a steady trickle of raw iron, so simply keeping it equipped while doing other tasks (chopping, building, exploring slowly) provides a bonus resource stream.
• Its extended durability means you won't need to worry about repairing it frequently, letting you rely on it as a long-term tool.
