Ironstorm Rifle
Quickstart
- Craft the Ironstorm Rifle using the recipe below.
- Hold the rifle and use the Use Item control (right-click / trigger) to fire.
- Keep firing to burn through your current magazine's ammo.
- When a magazine runs dry, sneak + use to reload into a fresh magazine.
- Watch the action bar for ammo count, magazine number, and reload status.
Overview
The Ironstorm Rifle is a fully automatic, AK-style firearm with an enormous ammo pool. Instead of reloading from your inventory, it carries a huge internal stockpile of magazines, letting you fire for a long time before you truly run dry. It's built for sustained combat, PvP, or just mowing down mobs in creative and survival worlds.
What It Adds
- Ironstorm Rifle — a one-handed equippable firearm.
- Automatic-fire behavior with rapid-fire cooldown between shots.
- A magazine and reload system with a massive total ammo capacity.
- Recoil, camera shake, and sound feedback when firing.
- On-screen ammo, magazine, and reload status messages.
How To Use
- Equip the rifle in your hand like any other tool or weapon.
- Fire: Use the item repeatedly to shoot bullets in rapid succession. Each shot has a very short cooldown, allowing sustained automatic fire.
- Aim: Shots follow your look direction with a small amount of spread, so full-auto bursts spray slightly rather than landing in one exact spot.
- Recoil: Firing pushes you backward slightly and shakes the camera, simulating gun kick.
- Reload: Sneak while using the rifle to swap to the next magazine. This resets your ammo count and displays a confirmation message.
- Empty magazine: When ammo hits zero, firing does nothing but play a dry-fire sound and prompt you to reload by sneaking and using the item.
- Running out of magazines: The rifle carries a very large number of magazines. Once all magazines are exhausted, the action bar will warn that no magazines remain — at that point the rifle needs to be repaired to reset its supply.
Crafting And Obtaining
Craft the Ironstorm Rifle at a crafting table:
The recipe combines iron ingots, an iron nugget, gunpowder, redstone, and sticks — fitting materials for a scrap-built automatic rifle.
Repairing: The rifle has limited durability and wears down as it's used. Repair it using rifle magazines as the repair material, which restores its durability (and effectively its ammo reserves) back to full.
Abilities And Mechanics
- Massive ammo capacity: The rifle tracks both a current magazine's remaining bullets and an overall magazine count, giving it capacity far beyond a normal weapon before needing repairs.
- Rapid fire rate: The short cooldown between shots enables several shots per second, true to an automatic rifle.
- Bullet physics: Each shot is a physical projectile launched from the barrel with a slight random spread, so longer-range shots are less precise than close-range ones.
- Feedback systems: Sound cues differ between firing, dry-firing an empty magazine, and reloading, so you always know your weapon's state without checking your inventory.
Progression And Strategy
- Use the rifle's automatic fire for crowd control against groups of mobs or hostile players.
- Manage your sneak-reload timing — reloading has its own short cooldown, so don't spam it expecting an instant swap.
- Because the magazine pool is so large, you can sustain extended firefights, but eventually you'll need to repair the rifle with magazines to keep going indefinitely.
- Keep spare magazines on hand as repair material so your rifle never goes permanently silent.
