Quickstart

Craft a Heartseeker Compass at a crafting table:

Use the compass to open its target form. Enter an entity type or name, such as sheep, or enter three coordinates, such as 120, 64, -30. Submit, then follow the arrow, compass direction, and distance shown on your action bar. You can also open the form by hitting an entity or mining a block while using the compass.

Overview

The Heartseeker Compass points toward a chosen entity or location in your current dimension. It shows direction and distance on the action bar rather than sending you along a navigable route.

What It Adds

• Heartseeker Compass: A craftable item for choosing and tracking a target.

How To Use

When you enter an entity name or type, the compass selects the nearest matching entity in your current dimension. You can match part of an entity’s name or type; for example, sheep can find a sheep. If there is no match, no target is set.

To target a location instead, enter three numbers separated by spaces or commas, such as 120, 64, -30. These coordinates refer to your current dimension.

Abilities And Mechanics

• The action bar shows an arrow and one of eight compass directions, plus the distance in rounded meters.
• Entity targets point to the location where the entity was found; they do not follow it if it moves.
• Your chosen target remains active without keeping the compass selected. Choosing another target replaces it.
• Guidance appears only while you are in the target’s dimension.

Progression And Strategy

Use an entity search to find the nearest matching creature nearby, or enter coordinates to navigate to a known spot. The arrow gives horizontal direction, while the distance is straight-line distance—not a measure of the route around terrain.
