Quickstart

1. Hold a shield, a totem of undying, an arrow, or a tipped arrow in your main hand.
2. Right-click (or press the use-item button) as if you were going to use it normally.
3. The item instantly moves to your off-hand slot instead of performing its normal action. If something was already in your off-hand, it swaps into your main hand.

That's it — no crafting, no new items, no special controls. It just changes what happens when you right-click certain items.

Overview

Handy Switch is a convenience mod that speeds up managing your off-hand equipment. Instead of manually dragging a shield or totem of undying into your off-hand slot through the inventory screen, you can simply right-click it while it's in your main hand, and it jumps straight to your off-hand.

Firework rockets and maps are intentionally left untouched, so you can still use them normally (launching rockets while elytra flying, opening maps, etc.) without the mod interfering.

What It Adds

This mod doesn't add any new items, blocks, or entities. It changes the behavior of a small set of vanilla items when right-clicked:

Items that are deliberately left alone and keep their normal right-click behavior:

• Firework Rocket
• Map / Filled Map / Empty Map
• Locator Map / Empty Locator Map

How To Use

• Equip a shield for blocking: Hold a shield in your main hand and right-click. It moves to your off-hand where it can be used for blocking while your main hand stays free for a sword, axe, or other tool.
• Keep a totem ready: Hold a totem of undying and right-click to place it in your off-hand as an emergency safety net, without ever opening your inventory.
• Quick-swap arrows: Right-clicking arrows or tipped arrows in your main hand sends them to your off-hand, useful for archer setups where you want a bow in one hand and arrows staged in the other.
• Swapping, not stacking: If your off-hand already holds something, that item swaps back into your main hand — nothing is lost or dropped.
• Rockets and maps stay vanilla: You can still right-click a firework rocket to launch/boost, or right-click a map to open it, exactly as you would without this mod.

Abilities And Mechanics

• The swap happens the instant you right-click the eligible item — no menu, no delay beyond a single game tick.
• Only the exact item you clicked is moved; unrelated inventory slots are untouched.
• The feature works for any player in the world automatically, with nothing to enable or configure.

Progression And Strategy

There's no crafting or unlocking involved — this is a quality-of-life mechanic available from the moment the mod is active in your world. Use it to react quickly in combat: right-click your shield mid-fight to get it into your off-hand without pausing to open your inventory, or stage a totem of undying in your off-hand before a risky boss fight for peace of mind.
