Quickstart

• Explore taiga forests — Green Bandits spawn naturally on the ground there as hostile monsters.
• If you'd rather summon one yourself, get a Green Bandit Spawn Egg (available in Creative mode from the Spawn Eggs tab) and use it on the ground.
• Keep your distance when fighting one; it hits hard and every successful attack slows you down.
• Defeat it for a guaranteed Iron Ingot drop.

Overview

The Green Bandit is a hulking hostile illager that stalks taiga forests, waiting to ambush unwary players. It looks like a pillager but is far tougher, hitting much harder, and cursed with a permanent haze of Slowness that it also inflicts on anyone it strikes. It's built to be a dangerous, deliberate melee threat rather than a fast skirmisher.

• Green Bandit — a large hostile mob that spawns in taiga biomes.
• Green Bandit Spawn Egg — lets you summon a Green Bandit anywhere, found in the Spawn Eggs creative tab.

How To Use

• Encountering one naturally: Green Bandits spawn on solid ground in taiga forests, especially in darker areas, just like other hostile monsters. They actively hunt down nearby players once they notice them.
• Spawning one manually: Use the Green Bandit Spawn Egg on any block to place one directly into the world.
• Fighting it: The Green Bandit constantly moves toward the nearest player and closes in for melee attacks. It swims across water without trouble, so bodies of water won't stop its pursuit.
• Defeating it: Killing a Green Bandit always drops an Iron Ingot.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Heavy health pool: Green Bandits have far more health than a typical illager, making them a drawn-out fight rather than a quick kill.
• Strong melee damage: Each hit deals substantial damage, so armor and healing items are strongly recommended before engaging one.
• Permanent Slowness: The Green Bandit itself is always under a mild Slowness effect, which is what keeps it from being overwhelming despite its strength — it moves and reacts slower than a normal hostile mob.
• Slowing attacks: Whenever the Green Bandit lands a hit on you, it also applies Slowness to you for a short time, making it harder to retreat or reposition after being struck.
• Long detection range: It can notice and target players from a considerable distance, so it may spot you before you spot it.

Progression And Strategy

Because the Green Bandit trades speed for raw power, kiting and ranged attacks are effective counters — its own Slowness means you can usually outrun it if you break away in time. Watch out for the moment it lands a hit, since the Slowness it applies to you can turn a retreat into a follow-up beating if you're not careful. Bring strong armor and healing supplies before hunting one in taiga forests, and treat the fight as a war of attrition rather than a quick trade of blows. The Iron Ingot it drops on death makes it a worthwhile, if risky, target for players exploring taiga regions.
