Gloomwood Familiar Companions
Quickstart
- In Creative, choose a Gloomwood creature’s spawn egg and use it to spawn a companion.
- Hold its favorite food and interact with it repeatedly to build a bond. Most creatures need three meals; chickens, bovines, sheep, and fish need two.
- Once bonded, crouch and interact with your companion using an empty hand to open its care panel. Set its order, edit its name, and press Save. For a fairy, you can also choose a task.
- Craft and use the for care tips and favorite foods.
Overview
Gloomwood companions are gothic, enchanted versions of familiar animals, plus magical fairies. They come in four color palettes: black and purple, black and turquoise, magenta and black, and emerald green.
Each companion has a favorite food, health, and a hunger meter. Feeding a wild companion builds a bond; feeding a bonded companion restores hunger and helps it recover health.

How To Use
- Feed and bond: Hold a companion’s favorite food and interact with it. Keep offering food until it bonds.
- Give orders and name your pet: Crouch and interact with a bonded companion with an empty hand. Choose Follow, Stay, or Sit, enter a name, and save. Following companions catch up if they fall far behind.
- Ride the Direwolf: Interact with your bonded Gloomwood Direwolf to mount it.
- Check on your pet: When your nearest bonded companion is close, its health and hunger bars appear on your screen.
Abilities And Mechanics
Fairies can follow you, gather nearby dropped items into your inventory, or tend nearby wheat, carrots, potatoes, and beetroot to encourage them to grow. Choose a fairy task from its care panel. Fairy tasks pause when its hunger reaches zero.
Companion hunger drains gradually. Feed bonded pets their favorite food to refill their hunger; feeding also helps them recover health.## Progression And Strategy
Gather a companion’s favorite food before setting out to tame it. After bonding, keep food on hand to maintain its hunger, and use the care panel to keep it nearby or leave it resting. A well-fed fairy can help collect loose items or tend a small crop patch while you work.
