Gigantopithecus

Quickstart

1. In Creative mode, find the Gigantopithecus spawn egg in the Spawn Eggs tab and use it to spawn one. With cheats enabled, you can also run /summon gigantopithecus-zxqqnvyy:gigantopithecus_zxqqnvyy.
2. Forage bamboo nearby and leave a trunk made of at least three vertically stacked logs close by. The ape may walk over to eat the bamboo or climb the trunk on its own.
3. Interact with it using an empty hand or a non-bamboo item to cycle its action animations. Sneak-interact to stop an animation. Hold bamboo in your main hand and interact to feed it instead.

Overview

Gigantopithecus is a towering ape, about three blocks tall, that wanders, watches nearby players, forages for bamboo, and climbs tall log trunks. It has 80 health (40 hearts).

What It Adds

• The Gigantopithecus mob.
• A matching spawn egg, available in Creative mode.

How To Use

The mod provides no crafting recipe for the mob or its egg. Use the Creative spawn egg or the summon command in Quickstart for a guaranteed encounter.

When you interact with the ape using an empty or non-bamboo main hand, it cycles through primary attack, climb, and eat animations. Sneak-interact to stop the current animation. These interactions trigger animations; they do not direct the ape to attack a target.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Bamboo foraging: When bamboo is nearby, the ape can walk over and eat a block. It removes the bamboo without dropping an item and heals 5 health. It can forage again after about 30 seconds.
• Feeding: Interact with bamboo in your main hand to feed the ape. It consumes one bamboo and heals 4 health. Feeding works even if it has recently foraged.
• Tree climbing: The ape looks for nearby trunks made of at least three stacked log blocks and climbs upward. It takes a short break before trying to climb again.

Progression And Strategy

Set up bamboo and a nearby tall log trunk to see the ape’s foraging and climbing behaviors. If you want to keep it healthy, feed it bamboo directly; its automatic foraging also restores health when bamboo is available.
