Giant Drillwing

Quickstart

1. Gather the ingredients and craft the Giant Drillwing placer at a crafting table:

1. Use the Giant Drillwing item on the ground to place the mech.
2. Interact with the mech to ride it. It has one seat and lets you fly freely.
3. Aim at an enemy and activate the mounted action by tapping the action button, right-clicking, or pressing Jump.
4. The first activation launches the large drill weapon. Further activations fire a rapid volley of smaller drills.
5. Use the normal movement controls to fly. Crouch to avoid interacting with the mech when approaching it, and dismount using the normal dismount control.

Overview

The Giant Drillwing is a flying drill mech built for attacking enemies from the air. It has a single pilot seat, ignores gravity, and can move in every direction while ridden.

The mech has 40 health and can be named with a name tag.

How To Use

Placing the Mech

Hold the Giant Drillwing placer and use it where you want the mech to appear. After placing it, interact with the mech to mount it.

The mech can be placed in the air and does not fall because it has no gravity.

Flying

While mounted, use the standard movement controls to steer the Giant Drillwing. It can:

• Fly upward and downward
• Strafe
• Move forward and backward
• Travel over water and through open air

The mech turns and attacks in the direction you are looking.

Firing the Drill Weapons

While riding, activate the mounted action by using any of these controls:

• Tap the on-screen action button
• Right-click
• Press Jump

The weapon fires in the direction of your aim. The first activation launches the large drill attack. Each later activation launches a fast stream of smaller drills. Attacks have a short cooldown, so repeated activations produce a rapid volley rather than firing continuously every game tick.

Crafting And Obtaining

Craft the Giant Drillwing placer at a crafting table using:

• Iron blocks
• Elytra
• Redstone blocks
• A Nether Star
• Pointed dripstone

The recipe produces one Giant Drillwing placer. The finished item appears in the Creative inventory under items and can also be obtained with commands using its item ID:

/give @s com_giant_drillwing_vl46dz74:my_vehicle_placer

You can also summon the rideable entity directly if cheats are enabled:

/summon com_giant_drillwing_vl46dz74:my_vehicle

Abilities And Mechanics

Flying Mech

The Giant Drillwing is a true flying mount rather than a ground vehicle. It has no gravity and remains airborne when you dismount.

Drill Attacks

The mech uses one mounted primary action with two attack stages:

1. Large drill: the first activation launches the heavy drill attack.
2. Small-drill volley: subsequent activations launch fast projectiles for sustained pressure.

The attacks travel forward from the pilot and follow the direction of the player’s view. Hits create a burst of critical-hit particles.

Pilot Seat

The Giant Drillwing has one seat and is controlled by its rider. Other players cannot ride alongside the pilot.

Progression And Strategy

• Try the mech in an open area first so you have room to learn its flight controls.
• Gain altitude before attacking ground enemies to approach from a safer angle.
• Aim carefully before activating the weapon, since the projectiles follow your view direction.
• Use the large opening attack to begin an encounter, then keep activating the mounted action to maintain a rapid projectile volley.
• Avoid cramped caves and enclosed builds until you are comfortable with the mech’s size and elevated seat.
• Keep the mech safe between battles: it has 40 health and can be pushed by entities and pistons.
