Mod Wiki
Giant Chicken Guardian
Quickstart
- Open your Creative inventory and search for Giant Chicken Guardian to grab its spawn egg, or find one already roaming the Overworld.
- Use the spawn egg on the ground to summon the guardian, or simply explore grassy Overworld biomes where it spawns naturally.
- Stay near it — the guardian will automatically fight off nearby hostile mobs on your behalf.
- Attack it and it will fight back, so treat it as an ally, not a target.
Overview
The Giant Chicken Guardian is a massive, protective creature that wanders the Overworld looking huge and imposing but behaving like a loyal defender. Despite its name, it takes the form of a towering, chicken-like beast (modeled after the Sniffer) with a custom look. It isn't tamed or fed — it simply exists in the world as a natural ally, attacking hostile mobs that come near it or near you.
What It Adds
- Giant Chicken Guardian — a large mob that spawns naturally in Overworld biomes.
- Giant Chicken Guardian Spawn Egg — found in the Spawn Eggs creative tab, used to summon the guardian on demand.
How To Use
- Finding one naturally: The guardian spawns on its own in Overworld biomes as part of normal world generation, though it isn't especially common.
- Spawning one directly: Use the spawn egg from creative mode (or
/giveif you have command access) and right-click/use it on the ground to place a guardian. - Interacting: The guardian doesn't need feeding, taming, or commands to protect you — it acts on instinct. Just stay within its range and let it do the work.
- Combat behavior: It will automatically target and attack nearby hostile mobs (zombies, skeletons, and other monsters). If you strike it, it will retaliate and fight back.
Abilities And Mechanics
- Monster Hunter AI: The guardian actively seeks out and attacks hostile mobs in its vicinity, making it useful as a mobile guardian for bases, camps, or while exploring.
- Tough and Strong: It has substantial health and hits hard, letting it stand up to groups of monsters and win fights that would overwhelm a player alone.
- Sturdy Footing: It resists knockback fairly well, so it won't easily be shoved around during fights.
- Mobile: It wanders the world on its own, swims across water, and will look around and track nearby threats, including turning its attention toward monsters that get close.
- Not hostile to players: It won't attack you unprompted — only fights back if you attack it first, or engages hostile mobs on its own.
Progression And Strategy
- Because it spawns naturally, keep an eye out for one while exploring — a nearby guardian can help clear out monsters during travel or nighttime.
- Lure a guardian close to your base or campsite before dark to get passive protection from nighttime mob spawns.
- If you want a guaranteed guardian, use the spawn egg rather than relying on natural spawns.
- Avoid attacking it accidentally, since it will fight back — treat it as a companion rather than a target for combat or resources.
