Overview

Frostforge Frontier combines a wearable inventory smelter with three world creatures: roaming Arctic Beastfolk, contract-offering Mercenary Captains, and evolving Pebblekin. Each has its own way to interact: build trust with a Beastfolk hunter, take work from a captain, or feed and watch a Pebblekin grow.

What It Adds

ContentWhat it does
Furnace HarnessChest armor that can quickly smelt or cook supported items in your inventory using fuel.
Arctic BeastfolkArmed hunters with randomized appearances, names, personalities, and moods.
Mercenary CaptainOffers hunting and travel contracts, rewards, and a way to check your reputation.
PebblekinA small stone creature that gathers dropped stones and grows into larger stages.
Frontier Coin and PebbleItems awarded or dropped through play; coins are contract rewards, while Pebbles can feed Pebblekin.

How To Use

Furnace Harness

Use the harness while it is selected in your hotbar. It checks your inventory for supported items and fuel, then processes what the available fuel can cover. Each smelted item uses 200 fuel ticks. Outputs go into your inventory, or drop nearby if there is no room.

Supported fuel includes coal, charcoal, coal blocks, blaze rods, blaze powder, lava buckets, sticks, logs, and several kinds of planks. A used lava bucket leaves an empty bucket.

Arctic Beastfolk

Interact with a Beastfolk to see its current mood, personality, and trust toward you.

  • Offer sweet berries: Give three berries from your inventory to gain 2 trust.
  • Ask about the hunt: Gain 1 trust and hear a hunting remark.
  • At 4 trust, the hunter considers you trusted and can help fight nearby monsters. Trusted Beastfolk also tend to stay close to you.

Beastfolk have randomized names and appearances, and may carry a sword or bow and chest gear. They can attack nearby monsters and animals. If you hurt one, it becomes hostile; nearby Beastfolk are alerted and may retaliate. They also try to flee from particularly powerful monsters.

Mercenary Captain

Interact with a captain to choose one contract at a time:

  • Hunt 3 hostile mobs: Defeat three hostile creatures, then return to the captain.
  • Escort the caravan: Travel 500 blocks without dying, then report back. The contract tracks your travel distance; it does not spawn a caravan.

Completing either contract awards 8 Frontier Coins, an iron sword, and 5 reputation. Hunt kills also increase reputation as you make progress. Use a Frontier Coin to check your current reputation.

Attacking a captain calls in two mercenary guards. If you attack while you have an active contract, the captain marks it as betrayed and your reputation falls by 3.

Pebblekin

Interact with a Pebblekin to check its growth or feed it. Feeding it consumes 3 cobblestone and adds 3 growth points. It reaches stage 2 at 5 points and stage 3 at 12; later stages are larger and tougher.

Pebblekin also collect nearby dropped cobblestone, stone, gravel, and Pebbles. At stage 2 or higher, they can place a cobblestone marker nearby from time to time when there is a suitable spot.

Crafting And Obtaining

The Furnace Harness is crafted at a crafting table with iron, a furnace, copper, and leather; use the recipe above for the exact layout. It provides 8 protection and has 850 durability. Sticks can repair it.

Frontier Coins come from completed captain contracts. Pebblekin drop 1–3 Pebbles when defeated and have a chance to drop raw iron. Spawn eggs for all three creatures are available in the Creative inventory.

Abilities And Mechanics

  • Beastfolk have randomized fur and skin appearances, names, personalities, and moods. Their trust toward you increases through conversation and berry offerings, and decreases if you attack them.
  • Captains spawn with randomized weapons and armor. Their contracts reward both items and reputation.
  • Pebblekin grow through feeding or collecting dropped stones. Growth changes their size and combat stats; at 5 growth they can also begin placing cobblestone markers.
  • The harness processes supported inventory items immediately when used, consuming fuel from your inventory.

Progression And Strategy

  • Carry both smeltables and fuel before using the Furnace Harness; more fuel lets it process more items in one use.
  • Offer berries and talk with Beastfolk to build trust before relying on one as an ally. Avoid striking them, since nearby hunters may join the retaliation.
  • Choose a captain contract you can finish, and return to the captain after completing it. Protect your contract by not attacking the captain.
  • Feed Pebblekin in batches or leave loose stones nearby for it to collect. Check its growth through its interaction menu as it advances through the stages.
