Description
Endless Frostfire gear: freeze foes with the Glacial Spear, then shatter through armor and wings
Mod Wiki
Frostfire Portal Realm
Quickstart
- Build a portal frame: a 4-wide, 5-tall standing frame with Ice on one side (left column and top/bottom corners) and Magma Block on the other side, leaving the interior open.
- Light the interior with Flint and Steel to ignite the Frostfire Portal.
- Step through to travel to the Frostfire Realm — step through the same portal again to return to the Overworld.
- Explore the realm's frozen and scorched forests for Frost Wood and Ember Wood, and mine Frostfire Emberstone, Magical Ice, and dragon-guarded ruins for Frostfire Scale and Frostfire Heart drops.
- Craft the Glacial Spear and Emberfang Sword, forge a matching set of Ember Scale or Glacial Scale armor, and equip Frostfire Dragon Wings for unlimited flight.
- If you've defeated the realm's dragon boss, craft a Frostfire Summoning Sigil to call it back for a rematch.
Overview
Frostfire Portal Realm adds a new dimension reachable through a hand-built Ice-and-Magma portal, guarded by dragons and wyverns. The realm supplies unique wood types, ore-like blocks, and dragon materials used to forge two full sets of unbreakable elemental gear: a frost-themed set and a fire-themed set, plus a legendary glider and matching weapons.
What It Adds
Blocks
- Ember Log / Ember Leaves — flammable-region-flavored wood, harvested with an axe.
- Frost Log / Frost Leaves — frozen-region wood, harvested with an axe.
- Magical Ice — mineable decorative ice block.
- Frostfire Emberstone — mineable ore-like block found in the realm.
- Frostfire Rift Core — a decorative ruin block found at realm sanctuaries. It is not a working portal on its own; it simply reminds you that portals are built from Ice and Magma Blocks.
- Frostfire Portal — the animated block created when a valid frame is lit; walking into it teleports you between the Overworld and the Frostfire Realm.
Entities
- Frostfire Dragon — the realm's boss.
- Fire Wyvern and Ice Wyvern — elemental guardians encountered while exploring.
Items
- Frostfire Dragon Scale and Frostfire Heart — key crafting materials dropped by realm creatures.
- Frostfire Summoning Sigil — a consumable item that calls the Frostfire Dragon back for another fight.
- Frostfire Dragon Wings — a wearable glider with unlimited use.
- Glacial Spear — a thrown/melee polearm that freezes enemies.
- Emberfang Sword — a melee weapon with a ranged fireball attack.
- Ember Scale armor set (Helmet, Chestplate, Leggings, Boots) — fire-themed armor.
- Glacial Scale armor set (Helmet, Chestplate, Leggings, Boots) — frost-themed armor.
How To Use
Opening the portal: Build the Ice/Magma frame (4 wide × 5 tall, hollow interior) in any orientation, then right-click any frame block with Flint and Steel. The interior fills with a shimmering Frostfire Portal. Step into it to travel; step into a portal in the realm to return home.
Fighting the dragon again: After the Frostfire Dragon is defeated once, use the Frostfire Summoning Sigil while standing in the Frostfire Realm to summon it for a rematch. It is consumed on use (unless in Creative Mode).
Weapon abilities:
- Glacial Spear — behaves like a vanilla trident (can be thrown and returns to your hand), but every hit — melee or thrown — inflicts a heavy freezing effect: the target is chilled, slowed dramatically, takes periodic frost damage, and remains slowed for a short time even after the frost wears off.
- Emberfang Sword — melee hits set the target on fire. Right-click to unleash a three-shot volley of exploding fireballs with a short cooldown between casts.
Armor abilities:
- Glacial Scale Boots — freeze nearby still water into ice as you walk (similar to Frost Walker), and grant immunity to freezing/powder snow slowdown effects; you can walk safely on powder snow.
- Ember Scale Boots — grant continuous Fire Resistance, letting you walk on magma blocks and through fire without harm.
- All Ember Scale and Glacial Scale armor pieces plus the Glacial Spear and Dragon Wings never lose durability — they never need repairing.
Crafting And Obtaining
Frostfire Scale and Frostfire Heart come from creatures and loot in the Frostfire Realm; Magma Cream and Packed Ice are the vanilla ingredients that distinguish the two armor sets.
| Item | Recipe |
|---|---|
| Glacial Spear | |
| Emberfang Sword | |
| Frostfire Summoning Sigil | |
| Ember Scale Helmet | |
| Ember Scale Chestplate | |
| Ember Scale Leggings | |
| Ember Scale Boots | |
| Glacial Scale Helmet | |
| Glacial Scale Chestplate | |
| Glacial Scale Leggings | |
| Glacial Scale Boots |
Frostfire Dragon Wings are not crafted from a listed recipe — look for them as a rare drop or reward from defeating the realm's dragon boss.
Abilities And Mechanics
- Portal travel works both ways through the same Frostfire Portal block; there is a short cooldown before you can use a portal again after arriving.
- Frostbind effect (from the Glacial Spear) stacks a visible chill on enemies: heavy slowness and periodic damage while frozen, tapering into a lingering slow effect as the ice thaws.
- Unbreakable gear: all dragon-forged weapons, armor, and wings ignore durability entirely, so there's no need to repair or replace them from wear.
- Loyalty: Glacial Spears always return to your hand after being thrown, like an enchanted trident.
Progression And Strategy
- Travel into the Frostfire Realm and gather Frostfire Scale and Frostfire Heart from wyverns and the dragon.
- Craft your first weapon (Glacial Spear or Emberfang Sword) to make hunting realm creatures safer — the Glacial Spear's freeze is especially useful for kiting dangerous mobs.
- Build a full Ember Scale or Glacial Scale armor set (or mix pieces) for permanent fire immunity or safe travel on ice/snow and water-freezing utility.
- Track down or earn Frostfire Dragon Wings for unlimited gliding across the realm's terrain.
- Keep a Frostfire Summoning Sigil on hand to re-challenge the Frostfire Dragon whenever you want another shot at its rewards.
