Quickstart

1. Gather a Diamond, a Packed Ice, and a Blaze Rod.
2. Craft the Frostburst Staff at a Crafting Table (see recipe below).
3. Hold the staff and use it (right-click / hold use) to unleash a burst of five icy arrows.
4. Watch nearby mobs freeze in their tracks — and feel yourself surge forward with Speed II.

Overview

The Frostburst Staff is a rare, enchant-able magic weapon that combines ranged frost magic with a personal speed boost. Each activation fires a fan of five arrows that instantly slow any mob they strike, while simultaneously propelling you forward faster than normal movement. It suits aggressive skirmishing: dash in, freeze enemies, and retreat before they can react.

What It Adds

How To Use

• Hold and use the Frostburst Staff to fire five arrows in a horizontal spread (spaced roughly 4° apart).
• Each arrow travels independently and can hit different targets.
• After firing, the staff enters a 2.5-second cooldown before it can be used again.
• The staff can also deal melee damage (4 attack damage) like a sword if you strike directly.

Abilities And Mechanics

Frostburst Volley

Activating the staff launches five arrows simultaneously in a fan pattern. The spread is wide enough to catch groups of mobs or a single moving target with multiple hits.

Slowness on Hit

Any mob struck by one of the staff's arrows receives Slowness 255 for 2 seconds. This effectively stops most mobs dead in their tracks for the duration, giving you time to reposition or follow up.

Speed II Boost

Every time you activate the staff, you are granted Speed II for 5 seconds. This lets you quickly close in, kite enemies, or escape after the volley — the freeze and the sprint complement each other naturally.

Crafting And Obtaining

The Frostburst Staff is crafted at a Crafting Table. All three ingredients reflect its dual nature as both a fiery conduit and an ice weapon:

Progression And Strategy

• Repair the staff using Packed Ice or Blue Ice at an anvil (each piece restores 96 durability).
• The staff is enchantable in the sword slot, so enchantments like Unbreaking, Looting, or Sharpness apply, extending its life and improving melee fallback damage.
• The 2.5-second cooldown means timing matters — fire your burst, use your Speed II to reposition, and be ready to swing in melee if a mob reaches you before the cooldown ends.
• Because Slowness 255 essentially roots enemies, the staff is especially effective against fast or charging mobs like Spiders, Hoglins, or Ravagers.
• Carry Packed Ice or Blue Ice in your inventory for field repairs during longer expeditions.
