Quickstart

1. In plains, forests, taiga, or meadows, look for a wild Frontier Cat Unit. Use Catfood near one, or use an apple on it, to recruit it. Catfood is made with .
2. Craft and use a Frontier Codex to track enemy records, recruited cats, and training progress. It requires a book and a red Catfruit Seed.
3. Craft and place a Cat Base to rally your cats and defend against Frontier enemies. Its recipe is .
4. Open Overworld chests to search for Ancient Treasure. Use it and choose to enter The Future; use it there again to return to the Overworld spawn.

Overview

Feline Frontiers adds recruitable cat units, biome-based Frontier enemies, a codex, and a hostile dimension called The Future. Enemies have traits that are recorded when you defeat them. Recruited cats gain levels as you fight alongside them.

How To Use

Recruit and train cats

Use Catfood near a wild Frontier Cat Unit, or use an apple on the cat. Catfood recruits a nearby wild cat; stay within about six blocks. Recruited cats become your units and follow you.

Defeating Frontier enemies builds training progress for your nearby owned cats. Each victory adds progress; every three victories raises a cat’s level by one, up to level 30. At level 30, a cat unlocks its True Form, which increases its size, health, movement speed, and attack damage.

Read the Frontier Codex

Craft the Frontier Codex with a book and a Red Catfruit Seed, then use it to open its record screen. Defeated enemies are recorded by enemy type and trait, including subtraits. The screen also shows your recruited-unit count, highest unit level, and training progress.

Travel to The Future

Use Ancient Treasure to open a travel menu. Choose Enter The Future to travel there. Use the treasure again and choose Return home to go back to the Overworld spawn. The Future has its own terrain, including Future Soil and Future Stone, and is a hostile area for Frontier enemies.

Operate the Cat Base

Place a Cat Base and interact with it while holding the next upgrade ingot. Upgrades must be applied in order: copper, iron, then gold. The base automatically fires volleys of six arrows at nearby Frontier enemies and does not damage Frontier Cat Units.

When the base’s owner is nearby, their recruited cats that are far away are rallied to the area in front of it. Its enemy-detection range grows with each tier:

Ancient and Superior Treasure

Ancient Treasure can appear when you open an Overworld chest: the chance is 28% near a blacksmith, 15% near a village, and 4% otherwise. Each chest gets one chance.

Superior Treasure is a separate drop. Boss enemies such as the Pale Terror, Behemoth, and Colossus drop it when defeated; other Frontier enemies have a 5% chance to drop it when killed by a player or pet.

Abilities And Mechanics

Enemy traits and Catfruit Seeds

Enemies can drop a seed matching their trait. Rainbow Catfruit Seeds are a very rare additional drop. Frontier Stalkers are Traitless; Hunters can be Floating, Angel, Zombie, or Red; Pale Terrors can be Aku, Relic, or Zombie. Behemoths are Red, while Colossuses can have any of the seven non-Alien traits.

The Colossus subtrait is exceptionally rare, with a 0.001% chance. The Behemoth subtrait appears in its listed biomes instead of an ordinary Frontier enemy.

Progression And Strategy

Begin in an easier biome to recruit a cat and encounter Frontier Stalkers. Explore the desert, cold taiga, roofed forest, and redwood taiga for Hunters and Behemoths; save the Pale Garden for a Hard-difficulty challenge. Defeating enemies records their traits in the Codex and trains nearby owned cats, so bring your units along as you explore.
