Quickstart

1. Gather a Nether Star, 4 Phantom Membranes, and 4 Feathers.
2. Craft the Feather Of Levitation using the recipe below.
3. Hold the feather in your main hand or off-hand.
4. Watch yourself rise into the sky with Levitation, and land safely thanks to Slow Falling.
5. Use the item to swap it instantly between your main hand and off-hand.

Overview

The Feather Of Levitation is a single, powerful equipment item that grants sustained flight-like movement. As long as you're holding it, you'll continuously float upward and drift safely through the air, making it a great tool for exploring vertical terrain, escaping danger, or just having fun soaring above the world.

What It Adds

• Feather Of Levitation — an epic-rarity, glowing item that can be equipped in either hand.

How To Use

• Equip it: Place the Feather Of Levitation in your main hand or off-hand. It only takes up one inventory slot and cannot be stacked.
• Fly: While holding it in either hand, you continuously receive the Levitation effect (lasting 220 seconds at a time, refreshed automatically while held) and Slow Falling (refreshed every 20 seconds while held), letting you rise and glide gently instead of falling.
• Swap hands: Use the item (the normal "use item" action) while holding it to instantly swap it with whatever is in your other hand — handy for moving it between main hand and off-hand without opening your inventory.
• Stop flying: Simply unequip the feather from both hands. The Levitation effect is removed almost immediately once it's no longer held.

Crafting And Obtaining

Craft the Feather Of Levitation at a crafting table using the recipe below. It requires a Nether Star at its core, surrounded by Phantom Membranes and Feathers.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Levitation: Grants a strong upward pull that lasts up to 220 seconds per refresh, continuously renewed every second while the feather is equipped in either hand.
• Slow Falling: Applied alongside Levitation so that when the effect wears off or you release the feather, you descend gently instead of taking fall damage.
• Off-hand support: The feather works from either the main hand or off-hand, and using it while equipped will swap it to your other hand automatically.
• Immediate shutoff: Removing the feather from both hands cancels the Levitation effect right away, so you won't be stuck floating after unequipping it.

Progression And Strategy

Since the feather requires a Nether Star to craft, it's a late-game reward best suited for players who have already defeated the Wither. Use it to scale cliffs, towers, or the End's floating islands without needing to build stairs or use Elytra. Keep it in your off-hand while wielding a weapon or tool in your main hand for combined combat and mobility, and swap it into your main hand at any time using the built-in swap action if needed.
