Fallacy

Quickstart

  1. When you join a world, look nearby for Fallacy's Release Box. If there is room, one is placed close to you automatically.
  2. Right-click the box to release Fallacy, a talking yellow companion. The box disappears after use.
  3. Stay near Fallacy and talk to him through chat. Try:
    • Hello
    • How are you?
    • What do you see?
    • Give me 3 bread
    • Stay here
  4. Watch the Fallacy Mood display on the right side of your screen. Keep his mood above 20, or his hidden alter may emerge.
  5. Right-click Fallacy while holding an item to offer it. Raw gold improves his mood; other items are rejected.
  6. Sneak-right-click Fallacy to turn him into Fallacy, Pocket Companion. Right-click the pocket companion to release him again while preserving his mood and conversation memory.

If you need another box, craft .

Overview

Fallacy is a persistent talking companion whose behavior depends on how you treat him. He follows you, comments on your surroundings, answers questions, requests items, and remembers your conversations.

His mood is shown as a percentage and a facial expression. Neglect, insults, attacks, and abandonment lower his mood. Kind conversation and raw gold improve it. If his mood reaches its lowest state, Fallacy is replaced by a dangerous flying alter.

Fallacy is assigned to the player who releases him. He does not burn in daylight and does not behave like a normal hostile zombie.

How To Use

Release Fallacy

Right-click Fallacy's Release Box. Fallacy appears above the box, becomes bound to you, and the box is removed.

A player can have only one active Fallacy at a time. Using another box while your companion is already released will not create a second one.

Follow and stay commands

Fallacy normally follows his owner. He keeps up when you move more than a few blocks away, provided you remain within his following range.

Use chat to control his movement:

  • Stay here, stay, sit, wait here, or brb makes him remain at his current position.
  • Come here, follow me, or stay with me releases the stay order and makes him follow again.

A stay order is tied to the location where it was issued, not to a permanent follow toggle.

Talk through chat

Fallacy listens to chat when he is close to you. He can also hear you while held as a pocket companion. Try questions and phrases such as:

  • What is your name?
  • How are you?
  • Are you listening?
  • What is happening?
  • Where are we?
  • What do you see?
  • Tell me a joke
  • Say something nice
  • I am lost
  • Sorry
  • Thank you
  • What is a village?
  • Where is the nearest structure?

He can report your coordinates, dimension, health, hunger, time of day, nearby danger, and other information observable from the current world. He can also look up registered Minecraft items, blocks, creatures, recipes, structures, and points of interest.

Fallacy's replies appear in chat and are narrated using the same text when the game's narrator is active.

Ask for items

Ask Fallacy for an item in chat, for example:

  • Give me a diamond
  • Can you give me 3 bread?
  • Bring me a stack of cobblestone

A bare request gives one item. You can use numerals, number words, or stack for 64 items. Fallacy places successful gifts in your inventory or drops them nearby if your inventory is full.

His willingness depends on his mood:

MoodChance of fulfilling an item request
60–10090%
36–5955%
0–3520%

Even an upset Fallacy may grant a request if you ask again.

Offer gifts

Hold an item and right-click Fallacy.

  • Raw gold is the gift he values. One piece is consumed and raises his mood by 6.
  • Any other item is consumed from your hand and dropped back onto the ground. It does not improve his mood.
  • Offering an item still counts as attention and resets his neglect timer.

Right-clicking him with an empty hand gives a chat prompt instead of accepting a gift.

Carry Fallacy

Sneak-right-click Fallacy to place him in your hand as Fallacy, Pocket Companion. The pocket form:

  • Has a maximum stack size of one.
  • Preserves his current mood.
  • Preserves his conversation history.
  • Still listens and responds when held.
  • Shows the mood HUD while held in your main hand or off-hand.

Right-click the pocket companion to release him in the open block directly in front of you. Releasing it consumes the item outside Creative mode.

Crafting And Obtaining

Fallacy's Release Box

The box is automatically placed near you when you join if a suitable nearby space is available. You can also craft another one:

The recipe uses eight planks surrounding one glass block. Any Minecraft plank type works.

A placed box can be broken and picked up again. Use a box to release Fallacy if you do not currently have an active companion.

Abilities And Mechanics

Mood and facial states

Fallacy begins with a mood of 82%. His face and HUD state change at these levels:

MoodFace stateMeaning
75–100HappyFallacy is cheerful and most willing to help.
50–74StraightFallacy is neutral and stable.
21–49BlankFallacy is becoming upset and less cooperative.
0–20TwistedFallacy is close to revealing his alter.

The mood display appears when your active Fallacy is within 48 blocks or when his pocket form is held.

Improving and lowering mood

Mood changes through your behavior:

  • Kind words, compliments, apologies, thanks, and friendly conversation generally raise mood.
  • Greetings give a small positive improvement.
  • Insults, threats, and other mean language lower mood more sharply.
  • Raw gold raises mood by 6.
  • Attacking Fallacy lowers mood by 25.
  • When his mood is at least 50, damage to him is harmless. Once his mood falls below 50, normal damage can hurt him.

Fallacy naturally loses mood over time. The loss is gentle while he is receiving regular attention, but becomes much faster after he has been ignored for several minutes. Talking to him or offering an item resets his attention timer.

Abandonment

If you tell Fallacy to stay and then walk more than 24 blocks away, he begins waiting alone.

He warns you at approximately:

  • 1 minute: mood decreases by 5.
  • 2 minutes: mood decreases by 10.
  • 3 minutes: mood decreases by 15 and he gives a final warning.
  • 4 minutes: he is replaced by his alter.

Returning within 24 blocks resets the abandonment timer. Use a follow or come-here request to cancel the stay order before leaving.

The alter

When Fallacy's mood reaches 20 or below, he warns you that his alter is coming. Within about 30 seconds, Fallacy's Fall replaces him.

The alter:

  • Hovers and pursues its owner through the air.
  • Targets the owner rather than nearby players.
  • Deals heavy melee damage.
  • Can break ordinary breakable blocks in its direct pursuit path.
  • Begins with an approximately 18-second stalking phase, circling at a distance while a disturbing nursery song plays.
  • Then closes in and attacks.

Do not assume that running away ends the encounter. If you move more than 72 blocks from the alter, it disappears and waits for you to stop. After you stop moving for a short time, it has a chance to reappear as a neutral Fallacy, but it is more likely to return as a fresh alter.

Progression And Strategy

  1. Release Fallacy early so you can use his advice and keep his mood stable.
  2. Talk to him regularly. Friendly conversation is safer than leaving him silent for long periods.
  3. Carry raw gold if you want a reliable way to restore mood.
  4. Use stay commands sparingly. If you leave Fallacy behind, return before the abandonment warnings progress.
  5. Keep his mood above 50 to prevent attacks from harming him and to maintain better item-request odds.
  6. Avoid insults and attacks, especially when his face becomes blank or twisted.
  7. If the alter appears, choose a deliberate response:
    • Fight it and accept that Fallacy will not automatically remain afterward.
    • Stay alive through a complete natural night with the alter; at dawn, it is removed and a neutral Fallacy returns nearby.
    • Keep moving, but remember that the alter can wait for you to stop.
  8. If Fallacy dies, he returns near his owner with his relationship state preserved. If the alter dies, the encounter ends without leaving an automatic companion; use a new Release Box to begin again.
