Endfer

Quickstart

1. In Creative mode, search for Endfer Spawn Egg and use it on the ground.
2. Alternatively, summon one with:

   /summon com_endfer_flteoeod:mysniffer
   

3. Place a hostile mob within about 32 blocks and in Endfer’s line of sight. Endfer will pursue it and attack in melee.
4. Hold Torchflower Seeds to attract Endfer. Interact with it while holding seeds to heal it, help a baby grow, or breed two adults.
5. Keep Endfer away from lava and remember that it can climb when building an enclosure.

Overview

Endfer is a large, Sniffer-like guardian that patrols its surroundings and hunts hostile mobs. It is durable, deals heavy melee damage, and can live as a persistent companion or defensive mob in your base.

Endfer also retains Sniffer-like behaviors: adults periodically sniff, search nearby terrain, and dig in certain natural blocks.

What It Adds

• Endfer — A powerful guardian with 70 health and a 10-damage melee attack.
• Endfer Spawn Egg — Available in the Creative inventory for placing Endfers.
• Natural spawning — Endfers can appear on the Overworld surface in low-light conditions, usually in groups of one or two.
• Breeding and growth — Torchflower Seeds can be used to heal, breed, and raise Endfers.
• Sniffing and digging — Adult Endfers can search eligible blocks and uncover items.

How To Use

Defending an Area

Endfer automatically searches for nearby mobs in the monster family. It can detect and pursue a visible hostile mob up to 32 blocks away, then follow it while attacking.

It does not require manual commands after being spawned. Place it near an entrance, village, or base perimeter and allow it to patrol.

Endfer may fail to notice a target if the target is outside its search distance or hidden from view.

Attracting and Feeding

Hold Torchflower Seeds near Endfer to tempt it toward you. Interact with Endfer while holding seeds to:

• Restore 2 health.
• Feed a baby Endfer.
• Breed two adult Endfers when they are fed near each other.

Endfer can also be named with a Name Tag.

Natural Spawning

Endfer naturally spawns:

• On the surface of the Overworld.
• At light levels from 0 through 7.
• In groups of one or two.

Natural Endfers are persistent, so they can remain in a carefully prepared enclosure or base area.

Summoning

Use the entity identifier in a command when you want to place an Endfer at a specific location:

/summon com_endfer_flteoeod:mysniffer

Crafting And Obtaining

Endfer does not have a crafting recipe.

The easiest ways to obtain one are:

• Find one naturally on the dark Overworld surface.
• Use an Endfer Spawn Egg in Creative mode.
• Summon one with /summon com_endfer_flteoeod:mysniffer.

Abilities And Mechanics

Combat

Endfer uses melee attacks and tracks its target while moving. It can float, jump, climb, and travel over water, but its navigation avoids water and hazardous blocks.

If Endfer is hurt, it panics and moves quickly for a short time before resuming normal behavior.

Sniffing and Digging

Adult Endfers periodically stop to scent their surroundings. They can search for valid digging positions within approximately:

• 20 blocks horizontally.
• 3 blocks vertically.

They can dig in:

• Dirt
• Coarse Dirt
• Grass Blocks
• Podzol
• Dirt With Roots
• Moss Blocks
• Pale Moss Blocks
• Mud
• Muddy Mangrove Roots

A digging attempt lasts roughly 8–10 seconds. Endfer becomes briefly happy after finding an item and then returns to its normal behavior.

Baby Endfers do not perform the adult search-and-dig behavior.

Growing and Breeding

Endfer has both baby and adult forms. Babies are much smaller and can be fed Torchflower Seeds to help them grow. A baby normally grows into an adult after about 2,400 game ticks, or roughly two minutes.

Feed Torchflower Seeds to two adult Endfers to breed them. Breeding produces a Sniffer Egg rather than an adult appearing immediately. Adult Endfers do not need to be tamed before breeding.

Hazards

Endfer takes 4 damage per tick while in lava. Keep lava away from its enclosure and give it a safe path around water, since it prefers to avoid water despite being able to move across it.

Drops

Drops are only generated when a player kills Endfer.

• There is a weighted 75% result for 1–3 Chorus Fruit. Looting can increase the amount.
• There is a weighted 25% result for an Ender Pearl check. The base success chance of that check is 35%, and Looting improves it.
• A player-killed Endfer can also provide 1–3 experience points.

Progression And Strategy

• Use Torchflower Seeds to keep a defensive Endfer healed and nearby.
• Build an enclosure with a roof or secure walls: Endfer can climb and is large enough to need plenty of space.
• Keep hostile mobs in its line of sight so it can acquire them as targets.
• Place Endfers near dark areas where monsters are likely to appear, but protect the Endfers themselves from lava.
• Breed multiple Endfers to create a larger patrol group. Groups of guardians can cover separate entrances or sections of a base.
• Leave clear dirt, moss, or mud patches nearby if you want an adult Endfer to perform its sniffing and digging behavior.
