Description
Left-click fires a high-speed arrow from your inventory
Mod Wiki
Ender Dragon Lance
Quickstart
- Craft the Ender Dragon Crossbow using the recipe below.
- Equip it in your hand and go fight something.
- Left-click (attack) to fire a high-speed arrow straight from your inventory ammo — no need to nock arrows manually.
- Sneak + right-click to unleash Dragon Breath, a homing fireball attack.
- Keep killing mobs with the weapon — after 10 kills, it demands a Dragon Head and a Dragon Egg in your inventory to evolve into the true Ender Dragon Lance, a melee spear form.
Overview
The Ender Dragon Lance is a single evolving weapon that starts life as a draconic crossbow and grows into a legendary melee lance as you prove yourself in combat. It bonds to whoever wields it, tracks your kills, and unlocks a powerful special ability once fully awakened.
What It Adds
- Ender Dragon Crossbow — the weapon's starting form. A ranged weapon that fires arrows automatically from your inventory when you left-click.
- Ender Dragon Lance — the evolved melee form, transformed from the crossbow after enough kills and a special ritual. A heavy-hitting spear-type weapon.
- Dragon Breath ability — available in both forms, launches a homing dragon fireball that can devastate enemies and terrain.
- Dragon's Fury — a powerful timed ability unlocked once evolved.
Crafting And Obtaining
Craft the starting weapon, the Ender Dragon Crossbow, at a crafting table:
There is no separate recipe for the Ender Dragon Lance — it is earned by evolving the crossbow through combat (see Progression And Strategy below).
How To Use
- Left-click / Attack: Fires an arrow at high speed pulled directly from your inventory (you don't need to hold arrows in your off-hand or nock them). Works in the crossbow form as a ranged attack, and in the lance form as a piercing strike at close range.
- Sneak + Right-click: Unleashes Dragon Breath — spawns a dragon fireball that flies in the direction you're looking and can erupt into a lingering, damaging pulse on impact. This ability shares a cooldown, so use it wisely.
- Right-click (while not sneaking, in later stages): May trigger Dragon's Fury once unlocked, granting a temporary combat buff.
- The weapon can be repaired using Dragon's Breath, Ender Pearls, or Obsidian on an anvil-style repair, with Ender Pearls restoring the most durability.
- The weapon is enchantable like a sword or bow depending on its current form.
Abilities And Mechanics
- Ranged Arrow Fire: Both forms let you fire arrows on left-click without manually equipping them — the weapon pulls arrows straight from your inventory.
- Dragon Breath: A sneak + right-click ability usable in either form. It launches a homing fireball that explodes into a damaging area effect and can even break nearby blocks. It has its own cooldown timer, so you can't spam it.
- Weapon Bonding: The weapon remembers who wields it. If someone else picks it up and uses it, it "de-evolves" back into the basic Ender Dragon Crossbow and resets that new player's kill progress — the Lance always answers only to its current bonded owner.
- Kill Tracking: While in Crossbow form, every kill you land with the weapon counts toward evolution. Your kill count is shown on the action bar as you fight.
- Evolution Ritual: Once you reach the required number of kills, the weapon will "hunger" for materials. Carry a Dragon Head and a Dragon Egg in your inventory, then use the weapon again to consume both items and transform it permanently into the Ender Dragon Lance.
- Form Differences: The Crossbow form is a ranged tool with slower swing speed but less movement penalty while charging; the Lance form hits far harder in melee, has more durability, and enables the strongest late-game abilities.
Progression And Strategy
- Start with the Crossbow — craft it and start racking up kills with your ranged arrow attacks.
- Watch your kill counter — the action bar tells you how close you are to evolution (10 kills required).
- Prepare the ritual items — hunt an Ender Dragon or acquire a Dragon Head and keep a Dragon Egg on hand before your kill count is complete.
- Trigger the evolution — once ready, using the weapon again while carrying both items consumes them and evolves your weapon into the Ender Dragon Lance, complete with dramatic sound and particle effects.
- Unleash Dragon's Fury — once evolved, you gain access to a powerful timed buff ability, best saved for tough fights since it has a long recharge time.
- Guard your weapon — if another player picks it up and uses it, it reverts to Crossbow form for them, so keep your bonded Lance safe if you want to preserve its evolved state.
