Emerald Grove

Quickstart

1. Craft an Emerald Sapling using the recipe below.
2. Find a patch of open dirt or grass with plenty of clear space above it (at least 5 blocks tall and a few blocks wide).
3. Place the sapling on the ground.
4. Apply Bone Meal to speed up growth, or simply wait for it to grow naturally.
5. Once grown, chop down the resulting tree — every block of it is a Block of Emerald.

Overview

Emerald Grove adds a magical sapling that grows into a tree made entirely of emeralds. Instead of wood and leaves, the mature tree's trunk and canopy are made of solid Emerald Blocks, letting you literally farm emeralds like lumber.

What It Adds

• Emerald Sapling — a plantable block and item that grows into an all-emerald tree.

How To Use

• Plant the Emerald Sapling on dirt, grass, or similar ground blocks just like a normal tree sapling.
• Bone Meal can be used on it to force or accelerate growth.
• The sapling needs open space above and around it to grow — if the area is blocked by other blocks, it will fail to sprout into a tree and remain a sapling.
• Once grown, the tree forms a trunk about 5 blocks tall topped with a canopy of Emerald Blocks. Mine any part of it with an axe (or any suitable tool) to collect Emerald Blocks.
• Breaking an ungrown sapling drops another Emerald Sapling, so you can always replant.

Abilities And Mechanics

• The Emerald Sapling behaves like a vanilla sapling: it can be placed on suitable ground, grows over time, and responds to Bone Meal.
• When it matures, it replaces itself and the surrounding air with a fixed tree-shaped structure built entirely from Emerald Blocks — a trunk with a rounded canopy near the top.
• Growth only completes if there's enough clear space for the whole tree shape; crowded areas will prevent it from growing until space is cleared.

Progression And Strategy

Since each grown tree yields a substantial cluster of Emerald Blocks, planting multiple saplings in a cleared "grove" layout lets you harvest large quantities of emeralds repeatedly. Keep a stock of saplings and Bone Meal, plant rows with enough spacing (a few blocks apart) so each tree has room to fully form, and periodically harvest and replant to build a sustainable emerald farm.
