Elemental Storm Minigun
Quickstart
- Craft the Elemental Storm Minigun using the recipe below.
- Hold the minigun and use the item (hold down the use/attack action) to begin spinning it up.
- Keep holding to let it spin up and start firing elemental shots automatically at whatever you're aiming at.
- Watch your heat! Firing too long will force an overheat and lock you out of firing for a few seconds.
- Release and let it cool between bursts to stay ready to fire.
Overview
The Elemental Storm Minigun is a rapid-fire ranged weapon that unleashes bursts of elemental projectiles — ice, fire, lightning, rock, or void — while spinning up like a classic minigun. It rewards sustained aim and careful heat management over single well-placed shots.
What It Adds
- Elemental Storm Minigun — a heavy, durable weapon item that fires elemental projectiles in rapid succession while held and activated.
- A built-in spin-up, firing, heat, and overheat system that governs how the weapon behaves in combat.
- Elemental projectile shots — ice, fire, lightning (electric), rock, and void — fired from the weapon.
How To Use
- Equip the minigun like any weapon and hold the use action to start it spinning up.
- After a short spin-up period, the minigun begins automatically firing elemental projectiles toward the direction you're looking.
- Each shot generates heat. Firing continuously builds heat toward a maximum threshold.
- If heat reaches its maximum, the minigun forcibly overheats — it stops firing and locks up for several seconds, accompanied by a warning message and sound.
- Releasing the use action stops firing, and heat gradually drains away over time if you're not shooting, letting you fire again sooner.
- Firing applies slight recoil, pushing you backward as you shoot — useful to anticipate when moving and aiming.
- The minigun takes durability damage as it's used and can wear out with extended combat use.
Crafting And Obtaining
Craft the Elemental Storm Minigun at a crafting table using iron, a blaze rod, a lightning rod, cobblestone, an iron block, and obsidian — representing its fire, lightning, rock, and void-infused elemental design.
Abilities And Mechanics
- Spin-Up: The minigun needs a brief moment of holding the use action before it starts firing at full rate.
- Elemental Shots: Projectiles fired carry one of five elemental effects — ice, fire, electric (lightning), rock, or void — adding varied impact effects to your shots.
- Heat System: Every shot adds heat; heat drains slowly when you're not firing. Managing heat lets you sustain fire longer without overheating.
- Overheat Lock: Pushing the weapon to its heat limit forces a lockout period where it cannot fire, shown with an on-screen warning and a distinct sound cue.
- Recoil: Firing nudges you backward slightly, which can affect movement and aim during sustained bursts.
- Durability & Repair: The minigun degrades with use and can be repaired using iron ingots or netherite ingots, with netherite restoring more durability.
- Enchantable: The minigun can accept enchantments compatible with bow-type weapons, allowing some customization of its performance.
Progression And Strategy
Think of the minigun as a weapon of attrition rather than precision — its strength comes from sustained fire against groups of enemies or tough targets. Manage your heat by firing in controlled bursts rather than holding the trigger indefinitely, and let it cool between engagements. Keep repair materials (iron or netherite ingots) on hand for extended adventuring, and consider enchantments to further boost its effectiveness in prolonged fights.
