Description

In Creative mode, look for Edible Dirt in the Equipment category.
Edible Dirt turns ordinary dirt into a food item. It is useful as an emergency food source when better food is unavailable—or simply for the experience of eating one of Minecraft’s strangest meals.
Hold Edible Dirt and press or hold the use button to begin eating. The eating action takes about 1.6 seconds, during which your movement is slowed.
Edible Dirt cannot be eaten while your hunger bar is full. After eating, it restores 1 hunger point—half a hunger icon—and provides very little saturation.
Craft one Edible Dirt from one dirt block at a crafting table:
You can also obtain it from the Creative inventory’s Equipment category.
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Hunger restored | 1 point |
| Saturation | 0.1 |
| Eating time | About 1.6 seconds |
| Movement while eating | Reduced to 35% |
| Maximum stack | 64 |
| Extra effects | None |
Use Edible Dirt as a last-resort food during early exploration or after running out of normal supplies. Because it restores very little hunger and saturation, carry other food whenever possible. Its low crafting cost makes it easy to produce in an emergency, as long as you can reach a crafting table.
