Demogorgon Axolotl

Quickstart

1. Open the Creative inventory and find the Demogorgon Axolotl Spawn Egg.

2. Use the spawn egg in or near water to create the mob.

3. Watch it attack nearby creatures and players. It deals 2 damage per melee hit.

4. Keep it in water, or at least in the rain, to prevent it from drying out.

5. For command-based spawning, use:

   /summon com_demogorgon_axolotl_bhi2ewxa:myaxolotl

The Demogorgon Axolotl is aggressive toward nearby entities, so spawn it in an enclosed test area if you do not want it attacking everything around you.

Overview

The Demogorgon Axolotl is a large, hostile axolotl with amphibious movement and axolotl-inspired survival mechanics. It can swim and walk, searches for nearby targets, and attacks what it sees.

Despite its monstrous behavior, it retains several familiar axolotl traits:

• It can breathe both underwater and on land.
• It can swim, walk, and move between water and land.
• It dries out when left away from water or rain.
• It can play dead in water when badly hurt.
• Adults can be bred with tropical fish buckets.
• It can be leashed and named.

How To Use

Spawning

The spawn egg is available in the Creative inventory under the mob’s name. Use it on a suitable location to place a Demogorgon Axolotl.

The mob can also be summoned with:

/summon com_demogorgon_axolotl_bhi2ewxa:myaxolotl

Feeding and Breeding

Use a tropical fish bucket on an adult Demogorgon Axolotl to feed it. Two adults can be bred together with tropical fish buckets.

Feeding consumes the tropical fish bucket and leaves a water bucket. The parents do not need to be tamed.

Breeding produces a baby Demogorgon Axolotl. Babies are half the size of adults and grow into adults after about 60 seconds. A tropical fish bucket can also be used while raising a baby.

Leashes and Names

The Demogorgon Axolotl can be attached to a lead and named with a name tag. Leads are useful for moving one into a secure enclosure or keeping it near a water source.

Crafting And Obtaining

There are no crafting recipes for this mob. Obtain it by:

• Using the Demogorgon Axolotl Spawn Egg in Creative mode
• Summoning it with its summon command
• Finding one through natural spawning

Natural Spawning

Demogorgon Axolotls naturally spawn:

• In lush caves
• Underwater and underground
• Between Y=0 and Y=48
• At light levels from 0 through 7
• On clay, moss blocks, or rooted dirt
• In groups of 1–2
• Away from bubble columns

Their natural spawning conditions make lush cave pools the best place to search for them.

Abilities And Mechanics

Combat

The Demogorgon Axolotl actively searches for nearby attackable entities within roughly 20 blocks, provided it has line of sight. It attacks with melee strikes for 2 damage.

After killing a target, it pauses before attacking again for about 6 seconds. It can then select another nearby target.

The mob has:

• 14 health, equal to 7 hearts
• Amphibious movement
• A normal movement speed on land
• Faster movement underwater
• The ability to attack while swimming or walking

Playing Dead

When its health falls below half while it is in water, the Demogorgon Axolotl may play dead after taking damage. During this behavior it can regenerate health before returning to the fight.

Do not assume a motionless axolotl is harmless—it may recover and attack again.

Water and Drying Out

The Demogorgon Axolotl can breathe in both water and air, but it still needs moisture.

• It remains safe in water.
• Rain helps prevent drying out.
• On dry land, it begins drying out.
• After roughly 15 seconds away from water or rain, it starts taking damage.
• A water bottle can help rehydrate it.
• Lava damages it rapidly.

Build an enclosure with a pool or regularly keep the mob near water if you want it to survive outside a lush cave.

Variants

The entity supports five axolotl variants:

• Lucy
• Cyan
• Gold
• Wild
• Blue

Naturally spawned Demogorgon Axolotls randomly receive one of the Lucy, cyan, gold, or wild variants. Babies produced through breeding receive the blue variant when no other variant is inherited.

Baby Behavior

Babies are smaller than adults and follow their parent. They become adults after about 60 seconds and can then breed with other adult Demogorgon Axolotls.

Drops

When killed, a Demogorgon Axolotl drops:

• 1–2 raw cod
• A chance of 0–1 ink sac when killed by a player

Looting can increase the number of raw cod and ink sacs dropped.

Progression And Strategy

• Use a spawn egg to create one in a controlled arena before releasing it near other mobs.
• Keep hostile axolotls in deep water so they can use their faster underwater movement.
• Build walls or use leads to prevent them from wandering into nearby settlements.
• Bring tropical fish buckets when establishing a breeding group.
• Use water bottles to recover axolotls that have been left on land.
• If fighting one, avoid prolonged battles in water: it can move efficiently underwater and may play dead to regenerate.
• For a reliable natural habitat, use a dark lush cave pool between Y=0 and Y=48 with clay, moss, or rooted dirt around the spawning area.
