Deepslate Earthshaker

Quickstart

1. Craft the Deepslate Earthshaker from dirt and deepslate. Its recipe is available in the recipe book.
2. Equip it in your main hand or off-hand.
3. Earth blast: hold right-click, aim at a point within 32 blocks, and release. Living creatures near the impact point take heavy damage and are knocked away.
4. Bedrock cage: aim at another player’s torso and press the default Middle Mouse Button. The target must be within 32 blocks, and the Earthshaker must be held in either hand.
5. You can change the bedrock ability key under Options → Controls → Deepslate Earthshaker.

Overview

The Deepslate Earthshaker is a powerful, single-stack weapon with two abilities:

• A charged earth blast that damages and launches nearby living creatures.
• A long-duration bedrock cage that traps another player.

It also functions as a strong melee weapon.

How To Use

Earth Blast

Hold the Earthshaker's use button, normally right-click, to prepare the blast. Release the button to fire.

The impact point is determined by your aim:

• If your crosshair hits a block within 32 blocks, the blast centers on that hit location.
• If you are aiming into open space, it detonates at the end of the 32-block range.

Living creatures within 5 blocks of the impact center:

• Take 14 points of damage.
• Are pushed away from the impact.
• Are launched slightly upward.

The blast creates an explosion sound and a burst of particles, but it does not destroy blocks.

After firing, the earth blast has a 15-second cooldown. Trying to use the ability during this cooldown has no effect.

Bedrock Cage

The bedrock ability targets other players rather than general mobs.

1. Hold the Earthshaker in either hand.
2. Aim at another player's torso.
3. Press the Bedrock Target key, which defaults to the Middle Mouse Button.

The target must be within 32 blocks and must be alive. A successful hit surrounds the player with a bedrock shell approximately 3 blocks wide, 5 blocks tall, and 3 blocks deep.

The cage:

• Only replaces blocks that can be replaced.
• Leaves non-replaceable blocks in place.
• Lasts for approximately 24 real-world hours.
• Restores the replaced blocks when it expires.

A target already inside an active cage cannot be bedrocked again. If there is no replaceable space around the target, the cage does not form.

The ability requires a torso hit. Aim around the middle of the target rather than at the head, feet, or outer edges.

Crafting And Obtaining

Craft the Deepslate Earthshaker with dirt and deepslate:

• 3 dirt
• 2 deepslate

The finished weapon has a maximum stack size of one. Its recipe is automatically available in the recipe book.

Abilities And Mechanics

Ability Cooldowns

The earth blast and bedrock cage use separate cooldowns:

• Earth blast: 15 seconds.
• Bedrock cage: approximately 5 real-world days after a successful use.

The bedrock cooldown is tied to the player, so obtaining another Earthshaker does not bypass it. The cooldown also remains after relogging or restarting the game.

Aim And Range

Both abilities use your view direction and have a maximum range of 32 blocks.

• The earth blast affects an area around its impact point.
• The bedrock ability requires the crosshair to intersect the torso of another player.

Melee Combat

The Deepslate Earthshaker can be used as a melee weapon and has Netherite sword-grade properties. Keep it equipped when switching between melee attacks and its special abilities.

Progression And Strategy

• Use the earth blast against groups of enemies or to knock dangerous creatures away from you.
• Aim at the ground near a group to catch several targets in the impact area.
• Remember that the blast does not break terrain, making it useful in built areas.
• For the bedrock cage, get a clear line of sight and aim near the target's chest.
• Check the surrounding area before trapping someone: existing solid blocks can prevent parts of the cage from forming.
• Save the bedrock ability for important encounters because its cooldown lasts several real-world days.
• Keep the Earthshaker in your off-hand when you want to use the bedrock key while using another item in your main hand.
