Cursed Green Pepper

Quickstart

1. Open your inventory and find the Cursed Green Pepper in the Food & Drinks creative tab, or craft one with the recipe below.
2. Put it in your inventory — immediately notice Weakness I and Slowness I being applied. That's the curse at work.
3. Try breaking a block — instead of normal drops, a Cursed Green Pepper falls out.
4. To store peppers safely, craft a Pepper Block from four Cursed Green Peppers and place it in the world. Just don't hold it in your hand.
5. Do not eat the pepper.

Overview

The Cursed Green Pepper is a deceptively innocent-looking food item that punishes you the moment it enters your inventory. It debuffs you passively, corrupts your block drops, and will kill you if eaten. The Pepper Block offers a way to store peppers without suffering the inventory curse — but it comes with its own nasty side effect when held.

Abilities And Mechanics

Cursed Green Pepper — Inventory Curse

As long as one or more Cursed Green Peppers sit anywhere in your inventory, you continuously receive:

• Weakness I
• Slowness I

These effects refresh every tick, so they cannot be waited out while the pepper is on you.

Cursed Green Pepper — Block Drop Corruption

While a Cursed Green Pepper is in your inventory, every block you break drops a Cursed Green Pepper instead of its normal loot. This applies to all blocks — ores, chests, crops, everything. The curse spreads itself.

Eating a Cursed Green Pepper

You can eat it — the game will let you go through the full eating animation. When you finish:

• Poison III for 10 seconds
• Wither II for 8 seconds

This combination will kill you very quickly. There is no benefit. Do not eat it.

Pepper Block — Holding Penalty

The Pepper Block is safe to place and safe to have sitting in your inventory (it does not trigger the inventory curse). However, if you hold it in your main hand or off-hand, you receive:

• Slowness VI — an extreme level that reduces movement to a near-standstill.

Put it down or swap it out immediately.

Pepper Block — Drops

Breaking a placed Pepper Block drops the Pepper Block itself (unaffected by the block-drop corruption, since the corruption only fires when a Cursed Green Pepper item is in your inventory — though having peppers elsewhere while breaking a Pepper Block will still trigger the curse).

Piglins

Piglins are attracted to Cursed Green Peppers and will not attack you while you hold one, treating it like gold. This is one of the few "benefits" — use it with extreme caution.

Crafting And Obtaining

Both items appear in the Food & Drinks creative tab. In survival, craft them as follows.

Cursed Green Pepper

Combine a Spider Eye, Poisonous Potato, Green Dye, and Fermented Spider Eye in any order (shapeless).

Pepper Block

Arrange four Cursed Green Peppers in a 2×2 pattern.

Progression And Strategy

• Immediate priority: Never let a Cursed Green Pepper sit loose in your inventory longer than necessary. Craft it into a Pepper Block and place it as fast as possible.
• Block drop corruption is the most dangerous mechanic long-term — a single forgotten pepper will replace all loot from every block you mine, rapidly multiplying your pepper count and preventing resource gathering entirely.
• Storage: Placed Pepper Blocks are completely inert. Build a dedicated storage room and keep all peppers as placed blocks or in containers (chests are safe — only your personal inventory triggers the curse).
• Never eat one. The effects are fatal with no upside.
• Piglin interactions can be situationally useful in the Nether, but the inventory curse makes prolonged use extremely risky. Keep your stay brief.
