Quickstart

1. Craft the pickaxe using copper ingots, a diamond, and gold ingots (recipe below). The recipe is automatically known to you the moment you join a world, so you can craft it right away.
2. Equip the pickaxe in either hand.
3. Start mining — you'll tear through stone and ore almost instantly.
4. Watch out: while holding it, you become slower, unluckier, and much easier to kill despite the bonus health it grants.

The Cursed Alloy Pickaxe is a single powerful tool item that trades brutal mining speed for serious personal risk. It looks and swings like a heavy netherite tool, but its true nature reveals itself the moment you hold it: your body is flooded with cursed energy that boosts your toughness while dragging down your agility and fortune.

You don't need to search for a recipe book or unlock anything special — the recipe is granted to every player automatically upon joining the world.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Blazing mining speed: The pickaxe mines pickaxe-compatible blocks at an incredible rate, far outpacing any vanilla tool, including netherite.
• Combat stats: It deals modest attack damage but swings very slowly, making it a poor melee weapon despite its power underground.
• Cursed Vitality: While the pickaxe is in either hand, you gain a massive boost to your maximum health (over 1000 extra health points), and your health is topped up when the bonus first applies.
• The Curse: As long as you're holding it, you're also afflicted with:
  • Slowness — you move sluggishly.
  • Bad Luck — your chances of good loot and trades take a hit.
• Durability: The pickaxe has high durability, letting you mine extensively before it wears out, but it is not unbreakable.
• Losing the bonus: The moment you put the pickaxe away, the extra health disappears and your health is capped back down to your normal maximum — so don't get caught with low health when you switch it out.

Progression And Strategy

• Use the pickaxe for fast, focused mining sessions, then switch it out before entering combat or exploring, since the slowness and bad luck make you vulnerable and unlucky.
• The large temporary health pool can make you feel tanky, but remember it vanishes instantly when you stop holding the pickaxe — don't rely on it as permanent survivability.
• Because the pickaxe is available from the very start (its recipe is auto-granted), it's a great tool to gather resources quickly early in a playthrough, as long as you manage the drawbacks carefully.
