Crimson Deflector

Quickstart

1. Open your crafting table — the recipe is unlocked automatically when you join a world.
2. Craft the Crimson Deflector using the recipe below.
3. Hold it in your main hand and right-click and hold to raise your guard before a mob attacks.
4. Any mob that hits you while you are blocking takes the full damage instead — and you take none.

Overview

The Crimson Deflector is a dual-purpose weapon: a hard-hitting sword for offense and a damage-reflecting shield for defense. Rather than simply reducing incoming hits, it turns enemy attacks against the attacker, making it uniquely powerful against aggressive mobs.

What It Adds

The item appears in the Combat tab of the Creative inventory.

How To Use

Attacking Swing at enemies as you would with any sword. The Crimson Deflector deals 9 points of attack damage, matching and slightly exceeding a standard Netherite sword.

Blocking / Deflecting Hold right-click to enter a blocking stance. While you are actively holding the block:

• Any mob that deals damage to you receives that exact damage amount reflected back as a player attack.
• You take zero damage from the deflected hit.
• Each successful deflection costs 1 durability.

Release right-click at any time to drop the stance and return to normal play.

Crafting And Obtaining

The recipe is granted to every player automatically when they join the world, so it appears in your recipe book right away.

Craft two Nether Bricks stacked vertically with one Lapis Lazuli below them to produce one Crimson Deflector.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Full damage reflection — the reflected damage equals exactly what the mob would have dealt, so harder-hitting enemies punish themselves more severely.
• No self-damage on deflection — when a deflection triggers, the incoming damage to you is completely cancelled.
• Durability cost — each deflection consumes 1 durability point. The Netherite-tier durability pool is large, so the sword lasts through many encounters before needing repair.
• Only mob attacks are deflected — the deflection only activates when a living entity (a mob) is the source of the damage. Environmental or non-entity damage is not deflected.
• Repairable — because the Crimson Deflector uses Netherite-tier material, it can be repaired with Netherite Ingots in an anvil.

Progression And Strategy

• Early game: The crafting materials (Nether Bricks and Lapis Lazuli) are relatively accessible, but venturing into the Nether for Nether Bricks is still required. Prioritise getting the sword before facing mid-to-late game mobs.
• Tanking boss fights: Hold right-click when facing high-damage mobs such as the Warden or Ender Dragon's summoned minions to deal heavy reflected damage while staying safe.
• Crowd control: The reflection counts as a player attack, which means it can trigger mob aggro shifts. Use this in multi-mob encounters to let enemies damage each other through you.
• Durability management: Keep an eye on the item's durability bar during long fights. Carry Netherite Ingots or keep an anvil at base to repair it between major encounters.
• Switching stances: You can freely swap between swinging offensively and holding a block mid-fight. Drop the block to land a quick sword strike, then re-raise it before the mob retaliates.
