Corrupted Villager
Quickstart
- In Creative mode, search the inventory for Corrupted Villager Spawn Egg.
- Use the egg on the ground to spawn a Corrupted Villager.
- Interact with it to open its villager trading interface. Its profession and available trades may vary.
- Keep watching it: after about 60 seconds, it transforms into a ravager. Trade with it quickly or place it in a secure enclosure if you want to study it.
- For a natural encounter, explore village areas at night or in other dark conditions.
Overview
The Corrupted Villager is a twisted villager mob that combines ordinary villager behavior with a dangerous transformation. It can wander through village areas, work, sleep, trade, and avoid several hostile mobs—but its corruption eventually causes it to become a ravager.

How To Use
Spawning With the Spawn Egg
Find the Corrupted Villager Spawn Egg in the Creative inventory and use it on a block. The mob can be named with a name tag and placed in an enclosure like other villagers.
The spawn egg is the main way to place one exactly where you want it. A Corrupted Villager cannot be summoned with the /summon command.
Trading
Interact with an adult Corrupted Villager to open its trading screen. Depending on its profession, it can use normal villager-style trades. Its profession may include farmer, fisherman, shepherd, fletcher, librarian, cartographer, cleric, armorer, weaponsmith, toolsmith, butcher, leatherworker, or stonemason.
A jobless or nitwit-like villager may not offer useful trades. Profession blocks and village points of interest can affect how the villager behaves and where it works.
Natural Spawning
Corrupted Villagers can naturally spawn:
- In village areas
- On the surface
- On grass blocks, dirt, sand, snow, or podzol
- At light levels from 0 through 7
- On Easy, Normal, or Hard difficulty
- In groups of one or two
Natural spawns can be adults or children and may have different villager professions and appearances.
Abilities And Mechanics
Timed Ravager Transformation
Every Corrupted Villager has a one-time timer. After approximately 60 seconds, it transforms into a ravager. The transformation has a short delay, so move away if you are not prepared for a large hostile mob.
Villager Behavior
Before transforming, the Corrupted Villager behaves much like a villager:
- Wanders around its village
- Looks for beds and village points of interest
- Works according to its profession
- Sleeps at night
- Trades with nearby players
- Picks up certain items
- Avoids zombies, zombie villagers, illagers, vexes, and zoglins
- Opens doors and can path through village areas
It has 20 health, or 10 hearts.
Lightning
A lightning strike transforms the Corrupted Villager into a witch, except on Peaceful difficulty where the transformation does not occur.
Zombie And Husk Attacks
If a zombie or husk deals a fatal attack:
- On Easy, the Corrupted Villager dies normally.
- On Normal, it has a chance to become a zombie villager.
- On Hard, it becomes a zombie villager.
Drops
When killed, it can drop:
- 0–2 rotten flesh
- A player-killed Corrupted Villager has a chance to drop 0–2 iron nuggets
- A player-killed Corrupted Villager has a smaller chance to drop 1 emerald
- Looting can increase the bonus drops
Crafting And Obtaining
There is no crafting recipe for the Corrupted Villager or its spawn egg.
You can obtain one by:
- Finding a Corrupted Villager Spawn Egg in the Creative inventory
- Encountering one naturally in a dark village area
Progression And Strategy
- Keep a newly spawned Corrupted Villager in a protected enclosure if you want to trade with it.
- Complete important trades before the 60-second transformation timer expires.
- Keep weapons and an escape route ready when experimenting with one in Survival mode.
- Separate it from other villagers if you do not want a ravager appearing in the middle of your settlement.
- Use a lightning rod and a secure roof to prevent accidental witch transformations.
- If you want to observe its village behavior, provide beds and profession blocks, then watch how it works and returns home before the corruption takes over.
