Cookfire Cannon

Quickstart

1. Craft the Cookfire Cannon using the recipe below.

1. Hold the cannon in either hand.
2. Right-click and hold to fire — it shoots a continuous stream of flame by default.
3. Press H to cycle firing modes if you want more firepower.
4. Point at mobs and hold fire — they'll be damaged, cooked, and drop cooked meat ready to collect.
5. Press G to activate the Tractor Beam and pull nearby cooked meat straight to you.

Overview

The Cookfire Cannon is a handheld multi-mode flamethrower. It damages and cooks mobs in all modes, automatically converts raw meat items it hits into cooked versions, and features a built-in internal inventory so you can load raw meat directly into the cannon to cook it as you fire. With 32,768 durability and minimal wear, it's built to last a very long time.

How To Use

Firing

Hold right-click to begin firing. The cannon will continuously fire in whatever mode is currently active. Release to stop — each complete use costs only 1 durability (in Survival). In Creative mode, no durability is consumed.

Switching Modes

Press H while holding the cannon to cycle through the three firing modes. A message confirms the active mode.

Tractor Beam

Press G (while not sneaking) to pull all nearby cooked meat items within 8 blocks toward you. Only cooked meat is attracted — raw meat stays put.

Internal Inventory

Sneak + G (Left Shift + G) to open the cannon's built-in 9-slot inventory. Load raw meat into these slots. Whenever you fire the cannon, any raw meat stored inside is automatically cooked. This is a convenient way to cook large quantities of food without needing a furnace.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Mob Cooking: All three modes deal fire damage to living entities. When a mob is killed by the cannon, it drops its cooked loot variant rather than raw.
• Item Cooking: Raw meat item entities hit by flame projectiles, area blasts, or the Steam Jet are converted to their cooked counterparts on the ground.
• Internal Cooking: Raw meats stored in the cannon's 9-slot inventory cook automatically each time you fire.
• Tractor Beam: Pulls cooked meat items within an 8-block radius toward you. Does not affect raw meat or non-meat items.
• Durability: Maximum durability is 32,768. Only 1 durability is lost per firing session (on release/finish), making the cannon extremely long-lasting in Survival.
• Enchant Glint: The cannon always displays an enchantment glint.

Progression And Strategy

• Early use: Craft the cannon as soon as you have iron, a campfire, flint and steel, and a blaze rod. It immediately replaces traditional mob farming for cooked food.
• Feeding yourself: Use the internal inventory to load raw meat before heading out. Fire at anything, and your stored meat cooks passively as you fight.
• Crowd control: Switch to Area Blast when facing groups of mobs — the periodic blasts hit everything nearby and cook all dropped meat in the zone.
• Long-range threats: Switch to Steam Jet for targets far away. Its 225-block reach makes it effective against distant mobs or for clearing large spaces quickly.
• Efficient looting: After a fight, tap G to magnetically collect all cooked drops without running around to pick them up.
• Durability management: In Survival, the cannon is effectively permanent for most playthroughs — 32,768 uses at 1 durability per session means years of in-game use before it breaks.
