Overview
The Combustion Staff is a long-range wand that lets you trigger powerful explosions without ever getting close to your target. Point it at a surface, use it, and a devastating blast erupts exactly where your crosshair meets that block — demolishing terrain, structures, and any mobs or players nearby.

How To Use
- Hold the Combustion Staff in your hand.
- Look at a solid block or liquid surface up to 50 blocks away.
- Right-click / press Use Item — the staff raycasts to the exact face of the block you are targeting and detonates an explosion there.
- A loud blast sound plays at the explosion point, confirming a successful firing.
- If nothing solid (or liquid) is in your line of sight within 50 blocks, nothing happens.
Crafting And Obtaining
The staff is craftable at a Crafting Table and is also available directly in the Creative inventory under the Equipment tab.
The recipe unlocks automatically once you have a Fire Charge, Blaze Rod, or Stick in your inventory.
Abilities And Mechanics
Explosion
- Range: Up to 50 blocks (raycasts through air and passable blocks; stops at solid blocks and liquids).
- Blast radius: 5 blocks — breaks blocks and reshapes terrain in a large sphere.
- No fire: The explosion does not set surrounding blocks on fire.
Superpowered Damage
On top of the standard explosion, the staff applies a heavy damage hit to every player and mob within 7 blocks of the blast point:
- 80 points of direct damage (40 hearts) per strike.
- Hits all living entities in range simultaneously — friendly players included.
Sound
The detonation plays an amplified explosion sound at the target location, audible from a considerable distance.
Progression And Strategy
- Mining and demolition: Clear large areas of terrain quickly by chaining shots from a safe distance.
- Combat: One shot deals 80 direct damage plus explosion knockback, enough to eliminate most mobs instantly. Stand at least 7 blocks back to avoid the superpowered damage zone yourself.
- Friendly fire: The staff has no owner protection. In multiplayer, keep allies well away from your target before firing.
- Nether preparation: The recipe requires Blaze Rods and Fire Charges, so you will need to venture to the Nether before crafting the staff.
- The staff stacks to 1 and does not consume durability, making it a permanent ranged demolition tool once crafted.
