Overview
The Cloud Flower is a single magical tool item that lets you conjure temporary, glowing cloud platforms on demand. Whether you're crossing a chasm, scaling a cliff, or just trying not to fall into the void, the Cloud Flower gives you a handful of precious seconds of solid footing wherever you need it most.
What It Adds
| Thing | Description |
|---|
| Cloud Flower | A handheld tool that places temporary cloud platforms. Has an enchantment-like glint. |
| Cloud Platform | A soft, glowing, thin floating block that vanishes after a short time. Cannot be broken or kept — it is purely temporary. |
How To Use
Placing a Cloud in Front of You
Hold the Cloud Flower in either hand and right-click. A cloud platform appears 4 blocks ahead of you at your line of sight. Use this to step forward across gaps or onto platforms you can't quite reach.
Placing a Cloud Beneath You (Mid-Air)
While you are airborne (not touching the ground) and holding the Cloud Flower, press Y to instantly spawn a cloud platform one block below your current position. This catches you mid-fall, gives you a jumping-off point, or helps you hover in place for a moment.
Tip: The Y keybind can be changed in Options → Controls, under the Cloud Flower category.
Cooldown
Both placement methods share a short cooldown after use, preventing spam. The cooldown is brief — just enough to keep placement deliberate.
Abilities And Mechanics
- Temporary platforms: Each cloud platform lasts exactly 5 seconds from the moment it appears.
- Step limit: A cloud disappears early if a player steps on it 3 times. Count your steps!
- Soft glow: Cloud platforms emit a faint light, making them visible even in dark environments.
- Poof on vanish: When a cloud expires or is used up, it bursts into cloud and snowflake particles with a crisp sound.
- No placement on solid blocks: If the target position is already occupied by a solid block, the flower attempts to place the cloud one block higher. If that space is also blocked, the placement fails.
- Stackable use: You can place multiple clouds in sequence (subject to cooldown), enabling step-by-step vertical or horizontal traversal.
Crafting And Obtaining
The Cloud Flower is found in the Tools creative tab. Craft it using white wool, a daylight detector, and a stick:
Progression And Strategy
- Bridging gaps: Right-click rapidly as you move forward to chain cloud platforms across wide horizontal gaps. Each cloud gives you about 5 seconds — more than enough time to cross and place the next.
- Vertical climbing: While falling or jumping, press Y to place a cloud beneath you and immediately jump again. Repeat to climb heights that normal jumping can't reach.
- Emergency landing: If you accidentally fall from a great height, press Y mid-air to break your fall. The cloud stops you, then vanishes — so have a plan for where you land next.
- Efficiency: Since each cloud vanishes after 3 steps, try to only step on each cloud once or twice, preserving its remaining uses in case you need to backtrack.
- The Cloud Flower is not consumed when used — it remains in your inventory indefinitely, making it a reusable traversal tool throughout your entire playthrough.
