It looks like a zombie wrapped in clockwork machinery and moves noticeably faster than a normal player. Despite its aggressive pursuit behaviour, its strikes deal zero damage — it is a relentless hunter that can never actually hurt what it catches. This makes it a strange, chaotic presence in the world: a tireless mechanical predator that is entirely harmless to everything it attacks, yet still draws the attention of other mobs, creates distractions, and drops useful resources when killed.

The Clockwork Pursuer scans for non-player mobs up to 60 blocks away. It does not need line of sight to pick a target and will actively reselect targets if its current one becomes unavailable. It ignores players entirely and will never chase or attack you.
Adults move at roughly 30% faster than a standard player walking speed. Baby variants are faster still. Once it has a target, it receives an additional speed boost during its melee charge.
The Pursuer performs full melee attack animations and will repeatedly strike its target, but every hit deals 0 damage. Mobs will react to being struck — they may flee or fight back — but the Clockwork Pursuer itself cannot kill anything.
A small proportion of spawns produce a baby Clockwork Pursuer, which is half the size and moves even faster. Occasionally a baby spawns as a jockey, mounting another Clockwork Pursuer adult and directing it at speed.
The Pursuer can walk underwater without drowning (it breathes both air and water), climb surfaces, and navigate through open doors. It takes damage from lava like most mobs.
The Clockwork Pursuer belongs to the undead family, meaning it burns in sunlight and is affected by mechanics that target undead mobs.
The Clockwork Pursuer spawns naturally in low-light conditions (light level 0–7) on the surface and underground. It appears on:
It only spawns on Easy difficulty or higher and follows standard monster population rules, so it competes for spawn slots with other hostile mobs.

The rare Clock drop is a thematic trophy — a broken timepiece representing the Pursuer's eternal, futile chase. The Sugar represents the wound-up kinetic energy powering the creature.
Using it as a distraction: Because the Clockwork Pursuer aggressively chases all non-player mobs, you can use it to harass other hostile mobs — skeletons, creepers, zombies — keeping them occupied while you fight or escape. The targeted mob will often turn and fight back, keeping the Pursuer busy indefinitely.
Farming resources: Redstone and copper ingots are useful mid-game materials. Setting up a dark area to farm Clockwork Pursuers is a viable way to accumulate both, especially with a Looting sword.
Hunting the Clock trophy: The rare Clock drop only falls when you land the killing blow. Bring a sword enchanted with Looting III to maximise your chance of getting one.
Jockey encounters: Baby jockeys are uncommon but notable — the mounted pair moves very fast and is harder to kite. Prioritise killing the baby rider first to dismount and slow the adult.
Lava immunity note: The Pursuer is not immune to lava damage, so terrain with lava flows can be used to funnel and finish them, though you will lose the drops.
