Cinnabar Cube

Quickstart

1. Apply the .mcaddon to a world (both behavior and resource packs active).
2. Create a new world or explore an existing one. The Sulfur Forest biome replaces some forest areas in the overworld — look for its distinctive yellow-green foliage and pale soil.
3. Can't find it naturally? Use the command:

   /locate biome com_cinnabar_cube_wd4zrwqt:sulfur_forest
   

4. Once inside the biome, collect Sulfur Soil, Sulfur Log, and Sulfur Leaves for building, and break Sulfur Fern patches for decoration.
5. Watch out for Cinnabar Cubes — boxy shulker-like monsters that spawn on the ground and fire projectiles at you. Kill them for a chance at Shulker Shells.
6. To force-spawn a Cinnabar Cube anywhere, use the Cinnabar Cube Spawn Egg from the Creative inventory.

Overview

Cinnabar Cube adds a self-contained biome ecosystem to the overworld. The Sulfur Forest is a pale, sulfurous woodland with its own ground cover, trees, and undergrowth. Roaming within it are Cinnabar Cubes, hostile cube-shaped mobs that behave like shulkers — stationary, armored, and capable of launching tracking projectiles at nearby players. The biome's unique blocks serve as novel building and landscaping materials, while Cinnabar Cubes provide a challenging new combat encounter and a source of Shulker Shells.

How To Use

Finding the Sulfur Forest

Explore the overworld and look for areas where the ground shifts to a pale yellowish surface block (Sulfur Soil) and the trees take on a sickly yellow-green hue. You can also teleport directly to one using:

/locate biome com_cinnabar_cube_wd4zrwqt:sulfur_forest

Harvesting Blocks

• Sulfur Soil — dig with a shovel for quick collection. Use it as a decorative or functional ground cover.
• Sulfur Log — chop with an axe. A sturdy building log (2 seconds to mine by hand).
• Sulfur Leaves — break fastest with a hoe. Lightweight and semi-transparent, useful for decorative canopy builds.
• Sulfur Fern — breaks instantly with any tool (or by hand). Place it as decoration in nature-themed builds.

Abilities And Mechanics

Cinnabar Cube

The Cinnabar Cube is a stationary hostile mob modeled after the shulker family. Key traits:

• 30 HP — tankier than most overworld mobs.
• Fire immune — cannot be burned.
• Ranged attack — fires Shulker Bullets at players within 15 blocks, with a new shot every 1–3 seconds.
• Targeting — actively seeks out and locks on to players within 16 blocks (line of sight required). Will retaliate against anything that hits it (except other Cinnabar Cubes).
• Peek behavior — opens and closes its shell like a shulker, tracking nearby players and revealing its shooter.
• Herd spawning — appears in groups of 1–3, up to 6 per surface area in the biome.
• XP reward — drops 5 XP when killed by a player.

Progression And Strategy

Early exploration: Use /locate biome com_cinnabar_cube_wd4zrwqt:sulfur_forest to find the biome quickly and begin harvesting its unique blocks for your builds.

Combat approach: Cinnabar Cubes don't move, but their Shulker Bullets track you. Use cover from Sulfur Logs and terrain, close the distance fast, and strike in melee to minimize exposure. A shield is highly recommended.

Shulker Shell farming: Cinnabar Cubes drop 0–1 Shulker Shells, with Looting increasing the yield. Building a farm in or near the Sulfur Forest, or repeatedly using a spawn egg, can produce Shulker Shells without ever needing to reach The End.

Building materials: All four Sulfur Forest blocks have distinct textures and fit a sulfurous, swampy, or otherworldly aesthetic. Sulfur Logs are as durable as regular logs, making them practical for construction as well as decoration.
