Cave King Pickaxe

Quickstart

Craft the pickaxe with the recipe below, then hold it in your main hand and mine blocks. It starts in Single block mode and mines valid blocks at exceptional speed.

• Use the pickaxe normally (right-click by default) to open its storage.
• Sneak + use to cycle between Single block, Vein mining, and Area mining. Area mode unlocks after you mine 20 eligible ores with the pickaxe.
• In the storage screen, use the M, L, and CD buttons to change mode, block limit, and cooldown. The arrows switch storage pages.

Overview

The Cave King Pickaxe is a gleaming, netherite-based pickaxe that mines extraordinarily fast and is considered suitable for drops from almost any block. It also has built-in storage and three mining modes.

How To Use

Mine with the pickaxe in your main hand. In Single block mode, only the targeted block is mined. In Vein and Area modes, mining a block can also mine nearby blocks, subject to the mode’s rules, limit, and cooldown.

Right-click the pickaxe to open its storage. Each page has 54 slots; use the arrows to move between pages. Items stored there stay with the pickaxe. You cannot put another Cave King Pickaxe into its storage.

Abilities And Mechanics

Multi-block mining affects up to the selected limit including the block you mine first. Its extra blocks must be in loaded, buildable areas and pass the game’s mining and protection checks; blocks with block entities and certain special blocks are skipped.

The cooldown applies between multi-block mining activations. If you try to trigger one too soon, wait for the remaining cooldown shown on screen.

Progression And Strategy

Mining eligible ores with the pickaxe in your main hand builds its ore progress, including in Single block mode. Eligible ores include coal, iron, gold, diamond, emerald, lapis, redstone, and copper ores, plus Nether gold ore and Nether quartz ore. Deepslate forms count in their corresponding ore categories.

• Area mode unlocks at 20 eligible ores mined.
• The block limit starts at 9. At 20 eligible ores, you can unlock 16; at 50, you can unlock 25. Use the L button to cycle the available limits.
• Use the CD button to cycle cooldowns of 4, 8, or 12 ticks. A shorter cooldown allows more frequent activations.

Vein mining is useful for connected ore deposits. Area mining can clear a patch of matching blocks, but it does not require those blocks to be ores once the mode is unlocked.
