Butterfly Bloom Locator

Quickstart

1. Get a diamond — either from your own supplies or by mining Butterfly Bloom Flowers, Butterfly Bloom Grass, Nectarwood Logs, or Nectarwood Leaves in the wild.
2. Find a Bloom Butterfly and offer it a diamond by holding one and interacting with the butterfly. It will accept the diamond and gift you a Bloom Locator.
3. Hold the Bloom Locator and use it (right-click/tap) to open a search menu.
4. Pick a destination — the Butterfly Bloom biome, or the nearest village, mineshaft, or ruined portal — and pay 1 diamond per search. The direction and distance will appear in chat via a locate command.
5. Follow the coordinates to find the Butterfly Bloom biome and settle in among its flowers, grass, and Nectarwood trees.

Overview

Butterfly Bloom Locator adds a brand new biome — the Butterfly Bloom — filled with unique flora and a friendly new insect companion, the Bloom Butterfly. To help you find this hidden biome (or other useful landmarks), you can craft a relationship with the butterflies to obtain a special locating tool that works entirely on diamonds instead of compasses or maps.

Biome & Spawns

• The Butterfly Bloom biome hosts Bloom Butterflies in bright daylight conditions, along with bees during the day and creepers at night, giving the biome its own day/night rhythm.

How To Use

• Talking to Butterflies: Hold a diamond and interact with a Bloom Butterfly to trade it for a Bloom Locator. You only need to do this once to obtain the tool — after that, keep it in your inventory.

• Using the Bloom Locator: Use the item to open a menu with four destination choices:

  • Butterfly Bloom biome
  • Nearest village
  • Nearest mineshaft
  • Nearest ruined portal

  Each search costs exactly 1 diamond from your inventory. If you don't have one, the locator will let you know it needs a diamond before it can search. The result of the search is printed in chat, giving you coordinates to travel toward.

• Breeding Bloom Butterflies: Bloom Butterflies can be fed a wide variety of flowers (poppies, tulips, sunflowers, orchids, and more) to breed and raise baby butterflies, similar to bees.

• Gathering Resources: Breaking Butterfly Bloom Flowers, Butterfly Bloom Grass, Nectarwood Logs, and Nectarwood Leaves yields the block itself along with a chance at bonus loot such as diamonds, gold, iron, emeralds, redstone, coal, or apples.

• Bloom Butterfly Behavior: Butterflies can become briefly agitated if attacked, and will flee from fire like bees. Breaking bloom flowers or nectarwood logs has a chance to spawn new butterflies nearby.

Crafting And Obtaining

There are no crafting recipes for the Bloom Locator — it can only be obtained by gifting a diamond to a Bloom Butterfly. All other items and blocks are found naturally in the Butterfly Bloom biome or obtained by breaking its blocks.

Progression And Strategy

• Start by exploring or locating the Butterfly Bloom biome to gather diamonds and other bonus resources from its flowers, grass, and trees.
• Use those diamonds to befriend a Bloom Butterfly and unlock the Bloom Locator, turning further diamonds into a renewable navigation tool.
• Once you have a Bloom Locator, diamonds become a resource you can spend repeatedly to relocate the Butterfly Bloom biome or find nearby villages, mineshafts, and ruined portals — useful for restocking supplies or finding new bases.
• Keep a small diamond reserve on hand specifically for locator searches, since each use consumes one.
• Be mindful at night: the Butterfly Bloom biome shifts from peaceful daytime bee and butterfly activity to creeper spawns after dark.
