Bubblegum Magical Shield

Quickstart

1. Open your Recipe Book — the crafting recipe is unlocked automatically when you join a world.
2. Craft the Bubblegum Magical Shield using a vanilla Shield surrounded by Pink Dye:

1. Place the shield in your off-hand (or main hand).
2. Hold right-click to raise it and start blocking incoming attacks.
3. Watch for heart particles to burst around you each time you successfully deflect a hit!

Overview

The Bubblegum Magical Shield is a bubblegum-pink take on the classic Minecraft shield. It blocks damage the same way a vanilla shield does, but adds a splash of charm: every deflected attack triggers a burst of floating heart particles around your character and plays a soft bubblegum pop sound. It sits in the Combat creative tab and counts as a shield for all game purposes.

How To Use

• Raise the shield — Hold right-click with the shield in either hand. Your character enters a blocking stance identical to a vanilla shield.
• Blocking — Incoming attacks from the front are deflected. Each successful block spawns a burst of 5 heart particles around you and plays a bubblegum pop sound.
• Lowering the shield — Release right-click at any time.

Abilities And Mechanics

Heart Particle Burst

Every time the shield absorbs a hit, five heart particles scatter in a small radius around you at chest height. This is a purely visual reward for successful blocks.

Custom Sound

Raising the shield and blocking both play a unique bubblegum-themed sound effect instead of the standard shield sounds.

Durability

The Bubblegum Magical Shield has 336 durability. Damage taken while blocking only reduces durability when the hit deals 3 or more damage — the same threshold as a vanilla shield. The shield can break; when it does, the standard shield-break sound plays and the item is destroyed.

Enchantability

The shield has an enchantability of 15, making it reasonably receptive to enchantments at an enchanting table or anvil (e.g., Unbreaking, Mending).

Axe Disable

Axe attacks can disable the shield, forcing a 5-second cooldown (100 ticks) before you can raise it again — identical to the vanilla shield mechanic. A sprinting axe user has a significantly higher chance to disable it.

Progression And Strategy

• Craft the shield as early as you have access to a vanilla Shield and Pink Dye (crafted from peonies, pink tulips, or combining red + white dye).
• Equip it in your off-hand so your main hand stays free for a sword or tool — the standard defensive loadout.
• Watch for axe-wielding enemies (e.g., Vindicators, Pillagers with axes) and consider dodging or switching tactics when the shield goes on cooldown, just as you would with a regular shield.
• Apply Unbreaking III and Mending at an anvil to keep the shield going through extended combat.
