Brine Bottle Shrimp

Quickstart

1. Find a warm ocean or lukewarm ocean. Brine Bottle Shrimp spawn underwater in groups of 3–6 on clay.
2. Bring a water bucket and use it on a shrimp to scoop it up.
3. Pour the bucket into a water-filled bottle display, aquarium, or fishtank to release the shrimp.
4. Keep it in water. After about 15 seconds out of water, it dries out and begins taking damage.
5. For an immediate demonstration, use the Brine Bottle Shrimp Spawn Egg from the Creative inventory, or run:

   /summon com_brine_bottle_shrimp_ozh6db23:myaxolotl
   

Overview

Brine Bottle Shrimp are tiny amphibious aquatic mobs designed for small water displays and fishtanks. They can swim, walk on land, follow one another, breed, and be transported in water buckets.

They are active creatures rather than purely decorative pets. In water, they may attack nearby aquatic mobs, including fish, squid, tadpoles, drowned, guardians, and elder guardians.

How To Use

Finding Shrimp

Search underwater areas of:

• Warm oceans
• Lukewarm oceans

They spawn on clay blocks and usually appear in groups of 3–6. They can spawn at any brightness level, but do not spawn inside bubbles.

Capturing And Moving Shrimp

Hold a water bucket and use it on a Brine Bottle Shrimp. The shrimp can then be carried in the bucket and released into another water-filled location.

For a fishtank or bottle display:

1. Prepare an enclosed tank with water.
2. Capture the shrimp with a water bucket.
3. Release it inside the enclosure.
4. Keep the entire display filled with water.

An empty bucket is used when handling the shrimp, while water buckets are the accepted capture container.

Naming And Leashing

Brine Bottle Shrimp can be named with a name tag and can be attached to a lead. Naming them is useful for individual displays or breeding groups.

You can obtain Brine Bottle Shrimp by:

• Finding them naturally in warm or lukewarm oceans

• Using the Brine Bottle Shrimp Spawn Egg in Creative mode

• Summoning one with:

Abilities And Mechanics

Aquatic And Amphibious Movement

Brine Bottle Shrimp can:

• Swim underwater
• Walk on land
• Move through water and onto shore
• Breathe both underwater and in air
• Follow parents as babies
• Avoid some dangerous blocks

They are very small, with a health value of 4 points, equal to 2 hearts.

Drying Out

Shrimp need regular access to water. When left out of water, they have a drying-out timer of 300 ticks, or about 15 seconds. Once dried out, they take damage over time.

Return a shrimp to water as soon as possible to stop the drying process and allow it to recover. A water bucket is the safest way to rescue or relocate one.

Feeding And Breeding

Adult Brine Bottle Shrimp accept tropical fish buckets.

To breed them:

1. Place two adult shrimp in water.
2. Use a tropical fish bucket on each shrimp.
3. The pair produces a baby Brine Bottle Shrimp.
4. The tropical fish buckets are replaced with water buckets.

Baby shrimp are half the normal size and follow their parent. They can grow into adults after their growth period; tropical fish buckets can also be used as their accepted food.

Combat Behavior

In water, Brine Bottle Shrimp can attack nearby:

• Fish
• Squid
• Tadpoles
• Drowned
• Guardians
• Elder guardians

Because of this, avoid placing them with fish or other small aquatic mobs if you want a peaceful community tank.

Drops And Experience

When killed by a player, a Brine Bottle Shrimp has a 15% base chance to drop 1 kelp. Looting can improve the result.

Player-killed adult shrimp can also provide experience. Breeding shrimp provides experience as well.

Progression And Strategy

• Start by locating a warm or lukewarm ocean with exposed clay underwater.
• Capture several shrimp at once so you can establish a breeding pair.
• Use a sealed tank with enough water to prevent accidental drying.
• Keep shrimp separate from fish, squid, and tadpoles if the tank is meant to be peaceful.
• Breed shrimp before decorating multiple displays, since transporting them in water buckets is safer than leading them over long distances.
• Use name tags and leads to organize larger aquarium exhibits.
