Bluebolt Relic

Quickstart

1. Craft the Bluebolt Relic using the recipe below.
2. Equip it in your hand.
3. Hold down use (right-click / hold trigger) to charge it up, then release to fire a concentrated bolt of lightning at whatever you're aiming at.
4. Watch your durability and cooldown — the relic can't be spammed forever.

Overview

The Bluebolt Relic is a powerful ranged weapon that channels crackling blue lightning. Instead of swinging it like a normal sword, you charge it up and fire a lightning bolt projectile that shocks, stuns, and even chains between nearby enemies. It rewards timing and aim over button-mashing.

What It Adds

• Bluebolt Relic — an epic-rarity, glowing melee/ranged hybrid item that fires bolts of lightning instead of relying on swinging.

Crafting And Obtaining

The Bluebolt Relic is made at a crafting table using lapis lazuli, netherite scrap, an ender eye, and a stick.

Abilities And Mechanics

Charging and firing

• Hold the use button to begin charging the relic. It takes about 2 seconds to reach full charge.
• Releasing early fires a weaker bolt; a full charge unleashes a much stronger shot with greater damage and a wider stun radius.
• Bolts fire from where you're aiming and strike within a short range in front of you.

Damage and stun

• Every hit deals magic damage that scales with charge level, and briefly slows and weakens the target.
• Hits also apply knockback, which is stronger on a fully charged shot.

Chain lightning

• A fully charged bolt can arc from the primary target to nearby enemies, striking them for reduced damage and a shorter stun. This makes charged shots especially effective against groups of enemies.

Durability

• Every shot consumes durability, with fully charged shots costing more than quick shots.
• The relic has a limited durability pool and will break with a snapping sound effect once depleted.
• It can be repaired using amethyst shards (moderate repair) or lightning rods (major repair) in an anvil-style repair.

Cooldown

• After firing, the relic needs a few seconds to recharge before it can be used again. Watch for the cooldown before trying to fire again.

Enchanting

• The relic can be enchanted like a sword, so you can combine it with your favorite sword enchantments for extra effect.

Progression And Strategy

• Use full charges against tough single targets or groups of enemies to take advantage of the chain lightning effect and extra stun duration.
• Save quick, uncharged shots for finishing off weak enemies or conserving durability.
• Keep amethyst shards or lightning rods on hand to repair the relic between fights, since durability drains quickly with charged shots.
• Because of the cooldown between shots, pair the relic with a secondary weapon for close-quarters combat while it recharges.
