Freeze gradually damages mobs that are susceptible to it (such as those not native to cold biomes) and visually encases them in ice. Combined with Slowness III, struck enemies are left nearly immobile and highly vulnerable to follow-up attacks.
The sword has a permanent enchantment glint — it shimmers in your hand and inventory at all times, even without any enchantments applied.
Crafting And Obtaining
Craft the sword at a crafting table with Packed Ice, Blue Ice, and Sticks. The recipe is unlocked as soon as you join a world.
Both ice materials are found naturally in frozen ocean and ice spike biomes, or can be obtained by collecting ice blocks with a Silk Touch tool.
Progression And Strategy
- Early freeze control: The Slowness III effect activates instantly, making this sword excellent for kiting dangerous melee mobs. Strike once to cripple movement, then maintain distance or follow up freely.
- Cold damage synergy: Freeze buildup deals hearts of damage to mobs that are vulnerable to freezing. Repeated hits stack the freeze counter quickly.
- Boss and elite fights: The near-instant slow makes the sword highly effective against fast or charging enemies like the Breeze or Piglin Brutes, buying critical reaction time.
- Durability: The sword uses diamond-tier durability, so it will last through extended use before needing repair.
