Quickstart

1. Craft a Netherite Sword and grab a Lava Bucket.
2. Combine them at a crafting table using the recipe below to create the Blazing Netherite Sword.
3. Equip it in your main hand and start swinging — struck enemies burst into flame and take ongoing fire damage.

Overview

The Blazing Netherite Sword is a supercharged melee weapon forged by combining the raw power of Netherite with the heat of the Nether itself. It hits as hard as a Netherite Sword, but every strike also sets your target ablaze, dealing extra damage over time. Holding the sword even lights up the area around you, making it a great tool for both combat and nighttime (or cave) exploration.

Crafting And Obtaining

Craft the sword at a crafting table by placing a Lava Bucket above a Netherite Sword, as shown in the recipe below.

Crafting consumes the lava bucket and netherite sword, leaving you with the empty bucket and the new blazing weapon.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Set enemies ablaze: Any hit on a living creature ignites it with flame and smoke particles, and applies fire damage once per second for a few seconds.
• Stacking burn: Hitting a burning target again refreshes and extends the burn duration, up to a maximum burn time — so repeated hits keep the fire going longer, but it won't stack forever.
• Fire-immune targets are unaffected: Creatures naturally immune to fire (such as Blazes, Striders, or the Wither) won't be set ablaze, though the visual flame/smoke effect still plays on hit.
• Ambient light source: While the sword is held in your main hand, it emits a bright glow around you, helping light your path without needing a torch.
• Durability and repair: The sword has high durability and can be repaired using Netherite Ingots, restoring a portion of its max durability each time.
• Enchantable: It can be enchanted like a normal sword, accepting enchantments up to a solid enchantment value, and it can be used to break cobwebs quickly.

Progression And Strategy

Because it requires a full Netherite Sword plus a Lava Bucket, this weapon represents an upgrade path for players who have already reached late-game Nether gear. Use it as your primary melee weapon once obtained — the fire damage-over-time effect is especially useful against tougher mobs or groups of enemies, since the burning continues even after you've moved on to your next target. Keep spare Netherite Ingots on hand to repair it during extended fights or mining trips, and consider pairing it with fire-boosting enchantments for maximum damage output.
