Bison Sniffer

Quickstart

1. Open the Creative inventory and search for Bison Spawn Egg.
2. Use the spawn egg on the ground to summon a Bison. You can also use: /summon com_bison_sniffer_kco424a7:mysniffer
3. Spawn an adult Bison near your base or an area you want protected. Adult Bison automatically attack visible, reachable hostile mobs within 32 blocks.
4. Hold Torchflower Seeds to attract a Bison. Use the seeds on a Bison to heal it, grow a baby, or breed two adults.
5. Try spawning a hostile mob nearby and watch the adult Bison charge in. Keep it away from lava, which damages it over time.

Overview

Bison are powerful, persistent creatures that defend themselves against hostile mobs. They have 60 health and deal 10 melee damage, making them useful as guardians around homes, farms, and combat areas.

They are based on the Sniffer and retain its sniffing, searching, and digging behavior. Bison can be found naturally in bright surface areas of plains, savannas, and meadows.

How To Use

Spawn Egg

Find Bison Spawn Egg in the Creative inventory and use it on a suitable block. A spawned Bison may be an adult or a baby.

For command use, summon one with:

/summon com_bison_sniffer_kco424a7:mysniffer

Feeding And Healing

Use Torchflower Seeds on a Bison:

• Adult Bison can be healed for 2 health.
• Baby Bison can be fed to help them grow.
• Adult Bison can be bred with other adult Bison.
• Holding the seeds attracts nearby Bison.

Naming And Restraining

Bison can be named with a Name Tag. Adult Bison can also be leashed, allowing you to keep them near a protected location.

Crafting And Obtaining

There are no crafting recipes for the Bison or its spawn egg.

Natural Spawning

Bison spawn on the surface in bright conditions in:

• Plains: herds of 1–3
• Savanna: herds of 1–3
• Meadow: herds of 1–2

Most naturally spawned Bison are adults, with occasional babies.

Breeding

1. Bring two adult Bison close together.
2. Use Torchflower Seeds on each one.
3. A successful pairing produces a Sniffer Egg.

Bison do not need to be tamed before breeding.

Abilities And Mechanics

Guardian Combat

Adult Bison automatically search for hostile mobs in the monster family. They target mobs that they can see and reach within 32 blocks, then pursue them and attack with melee strikes.

• Health: 60
• Melee damage: 10
• Target range: 32 blocks
• Attack type: tracked melee attack

Bison do not require a special command or manual attack order. Place an adult near the area you want defended and let it patrol naturally.

Babies

Baby Bison are smaller and do not have the adult combat abilities. Feed them Torchflower Seeds to help them grow into adults.

Sniffing And Digging

Adult Bison periodically sniff, search, and dig in nearby suitable ground. They can search blocks such as dirt, coarse dirt, grass, podzol, dirt with roots, moss, pale moss, mud, and muddy mangrove roots.

During this activity, a Bison may pause its movement and temporarily stop being pushable. Keep this in mind when building a pen or positioning one as a guard.

Movement And Hazards

• Bison can climb and jump.
• They avoid water, although they can path across it.
• They panic when hurt.
• Lava deals 4 damage per tick.
• Bison are persistent and normally remain in the world after being spawned.

Drops

When killed, a Bison can provide:

• 1–3 steak
• 1–2 leather
• A small chance of a Sniffer Egg when killed by a player
• Experience when killed by a player

The Sniffer Egg chance is approximately 2% before Looting bonuses. Looting increases the chance and can also increase the ordinary item drops.

Progression And Strategy

• Start with one adult Bison from the spawn egg and position it near your base.
• Use Torchflower Seeds to keep it healthy and attract it into place.
• Breed additional Bison to create a larger defensive herd.
• Use fences, walls, or a leash to keep Bison from wandering away.
• Leave enough room for the Bison to move toward hostile mobs.
• Keep guarded areas clear of lava and consider limiting diggable ground if you do not want the Bison sniffing and digging nearby.
• Use Name Tags to give important guard Bison recognizable names.
