Big Strider

Quickstart

1. Open your Creative inventory and find the Big Strider Spawn Egg and Small Strider Spawn Egg in the Spawn Eggs tab (or grab either as loot/reward if given to you).
2. Use the spawn egg on any block to summon the creature.
3. Big Striders also spawn naturally on their own in Overworld lava areas — you don't need the egg to find one.
4. Watch a Big Strider patrol and fight off nearby hostile mobs, or keep a Small Strider as a tiny lava-walking companion.
5. Neither strider will attack you — they're friendly toward players.

Overview

Big Strider introduces two new strider variants that live in lava, just like the vanilla strider, but with very different roles:

• Big Strider – A massive, powerful guardian-like strider that actively hunts down hostile mobs to protect the area around it.
• Small Strider – A permanently baby-sized strider that behaves just like a normal strider, but stays tiny forever.

Both are peaceful toward players and can be summoned anywhere using their spawn eggs.

What It Adds

Both spawn eggs can be found in the Spawn Eggs creative tab.

How To Use

• Spawning: Right-click (or use) a spawn egg on a block or in lava to summon the corresponding strider.
• Natural spawns: Big Striders can also appear naturally in Overworld lava biomes without needing an egg.
• Big Strider behavior: It wanders, swims through lava, looks around, and will automatically target and melee any hostile mob (zombies, skeletons, etc.) that comes near. It ignores players entirely unless attacked.
• Small Strider behavior: Acts exactly like a normal baby strider — it wanders, rides lava currents, and can be controlled with a saddle and warped fungus on a stick just like a vanilla strider, but it never grows into a full-size strider.
• Both mobs can walk on lava safely and take no damage from it, just like vanilla striders.

Abilities And Mechanics

Big Strider

• Much larger visual size than a normal strider.
• High health pool, making it tough to kill by mistake or on purpose.
• Increased movement speed and strong melee attack.
• Knockback resistant, so it's hard to push around.
• Actively seeks out and attacks hostile mobs in a wide radius, acting as a lava-dwelling guardian.
• Completely neutral to players — it will never initiate combat with you.

Small Strider

• Behaves identically to a vanilla strider in every way (rideable with a saddle, steerable with a warped fungus on a stick, avoids water, walks on lava).
• Permanently stuck at baby size and scale, so it never becomes a full-grown strider.

Progression And Strategy

• Place a Big Strider near a base or lava lake to help fend off hostile mobs that wander too close.
• Keep a Small Strider around as a decorative or companion mob if you enjoy having a tiny strider follow you or sit in your lava moat.
• Since both are obtained via spawn eggs, they're best used for building, decoration, or casual companionship rather than survival-mode crafting progression.
