Description:
Better Saturation makes natural healing at full food saturation behave like Java Edition: when you have full saturation you regain health at the Java cadence of 1 health point every 10 ticks. The mod monitors each player's regen so it won't stack an extra pulse on top of vanilla, potion, or other addon heals and it cleans up correctly when players go offline. No commands or new controls — just install and your full-saturation natural regeneration will match Java.

Better Saturation
Quickstart
- Install the
.mcaddon file — apply both the behavior pack and resource pack to your world.
- Make sure your hunger bar is completely full (20/20) and you have food saturation remaining (eat well-saturating foods like steak, golden carrots, or cooked porkchop).
- Take a small amount of damage, then stand still with a full food bar and watch your health recover — it will now regenerate noticeably faster, matching the pace you would experience on Java Edition.
No commands, crafting, or extra controls are needed. The effect is fully automatic.
Overview
Better Saturation brings Bedrock Edition's natural food regeneration in line with Java Edition's behavior. On Java, when a player has a completely full hunger bar and still has saturation, health regenerates at a rapid rate of 1 health point every 10 game ticks (0.5 seconds). Bedrock does not use that same fast cadence natively, so this mod adds it seamlessly on top of the existing game systems.
How It Works
- Trigger condition: You must have a full hunger bar (20/20 hunger points) and at least some food saturation remaining.
- Healing rate: 1 health point (½ heart) is restored every 10 game ticks while both conditions are met.
- Smart stacking prevention: The mod tracks each player's health every tick. If your health already increased from vanilla regeneration, a potion effect, or any other source during that window, the mod skips its own pulse — it never adds healing on top of healing that already happened naturally.
- Clean session handling: When a player leaves the world, their regeneration tracking state is automatically cleared, keeping things tidy for the next session.
Abilities And Mechanics
| Condition | Result |
|---|
| Full hunger (20/20) + saturation ≥ 1 | Fast regen active: +½ heart every 10 ticks |
| Hunger not full, or no saturation | Fast regen inactive; vanilla behavior only |
| Already at max health | No pulse fired |
| Health increased from another source this tick | Pulse skipped to avoid doubling up |
Progression And Strategy
- Prioritise high-saturation foods. Golden carrots, steak, cooked porkchop, and salmon all provide high saturation, keeping the fast regen window active longer after eating.
- Top up before combat. Eating a high-saturation meal just before a fight means any damage you take will be recovered quickly as long as your hunger stays full.
- Keep your hunger full. The fast regen shuts off the moment your hunger bar drops below maximum, so avoid sprinting or taking hunger-draining effects while you need fast recovery.
- Works in multiplayer. Each player is tracked independently, so multiple players in the same world all benefit simultaneously without interfering with each other.
